Beyonce didn't listen to Stevie

...To get the riff fom EO17 for Bootylicious. It was the producer!

Beyoncé has been accused of falsely taking credit for using a Stevie Nicks riff in the Destiny's Child song 'Bootylicious'.

Record producer Rob Fusari has claimed that he originally came up with the idea to use part of Nicks's 'Edge of Seventeen' on the girl group's 2001 hit.

"I remember watching Barbara Walters interview Beyoncé about 'Bootylicious', and she told Barbara about how she came up with the idea for the track," he told Billboard.

"I called Mathew [Beyoncé's father and manager] - which was a big mistake; I got emotional, and I apologised after - but I called Mathew and said, 'Mathew, like, why?'

"He explained to me, in a nice way, he said, 'People don't want to hear about Rob Fusari, producer from Livingston, NJ. No offence, but that's not what sells records. What sells records is people believing that the artist is everything'.

"And I'm like, 'Yeah, I know, Mathew. I understand the game. But come on, I'm trying too. I'm a squirrel trying to get a nut too.'"

Fusari, who signed Lady GaGa, recently revealed that he was initially underwhelmed when he met her.

I figured. I never bought Beyonce's story anyway. I would never believe for one minute that Beyonce has ever listened to any rock song.

I also found it hard to believe that B was a fan of EO17 and it inspired her to use the riff. In the 'Making Of' documentary for the video, Stevie (to me) looks distinctly uncomfortable with the Destiny's Child trio. I'm not sure if I can put my finger on exactly what it is, maybe it's the way she's holding her arms close to herself and not saying much..

I remember Beyonce said she heard the song while she was on an airplane, and that's when she got the idea for it. I have long had an aversion to that woman. She seems phony like one of those six year old beauty pageant contestants with their perpetual fake smiles.

I think she also muscles her way onto the writing credits for songs for which she had very minimal input. It amused me when the AMPAS ruled that a maximum of three writers could be listed as contributors for each Best Song nomination, which resulted in Beyonce the fourth hanger-on being booted as an Oscar nominee.

Don't feel too sorry about it- he's still making money on the song.

However, it's not like Stevie came up with the riff of EO17 either. Originally, that song was accused of being ripped off of a Police song. Probably should have been more accurate to have Waddy rocking out in the Bootylicious video...but that wouldn't sell now would it?? lol

My thoughts precisely! Stevie fans can't be too harsh on Beyonce because Stevie ripped off the Edge riff and has long taken the credit too :p. Not that I mind anyone humbling Beyonce some... but that's another topic altogether ;)

Good point. Waddy did admit they totally ripped off "Bring on the Night" and he wasn't to happy about it.
