Macfanforever 02-07-2010 08:27 PM

Yes, they still have the power,Lets see some of these new artists will still have it in 40 years,.I doubt it.,

They totally kicked ass. The crowd was so loud singing right along with Roger. Pete was awesome. Holy Crap that was so cool. I have a big smile on my face. Great light show too. Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Hail Hail Rock And Roll.

The songs are great, but the performance... eh.

I saw The Who when they last toured in 2007. The show was pretty great, actually. Daltrey's voice was about the same as it is was in the halftime show. A little raspy, but you know, if you're screaming like that for 40 years, it happens.
Also...the first Youtube comment I read was that "the superbowl should get Fleetwood Mac for next year. lol....

the who was fabamundo!!!~

Fabulous. And they didn't have the throngs of paid teenage "fans" to make them appear important.

I hate The Who. :sorry: I have no rationale, but I do. I like Baba O'Reilly & that's about it. I couldn't help but notice that the camera was NOT on Daltry when he did the "Fooled" scream. Think it was him doing it live? Recorded? At least partially? Don't care much, just curious.

It's pretty obvious that Ringo's kid (Zak Starkey) learned how to play drums from "Uncle Keith" (Moon) instead of his dad.

Pete's brother, Simon, is no slouch on guitar, either (he was the additional guitarist over by bassist Pino Palladino).

Long Live THE TWO (uh...I mean) THE WHO!!!!

WHO!? . . . .

I love when classic rock acts get a chance to show they still have it but to be honest, I thought the performance looked like it was aimed for the Rock Band crowd and it probably was. It actually LOOKED like Rock Band. They sounded pretty good but I'd much rather see an interactive rock show like Springsteen last year, when they filled the field with people and didn't try to over-tech the production.

I think Roger was definitely helped out -- I think he gave a bit of a scream himself (and he was still screaming okay last March when I saw them), but my initial reaction was certainly that there was a recorded, more kick ass scream behind him.

I was so pleased to see the field NOT filled with people. It always seems so teeny-bopper rent-a-crowd to me. But I take your point that it could've been more interactive rock show -- and if there's anyone capable of a rock show it's The Who.

Anyway, I thought the half-time show was awesome. Hearing Baba O'Riley reminded me why I think it's one of the greatest songs ever.

I have to admit that, as much as I have always loved The Who, I wish they stopped 20 years ago. This was embarassing. Pete looks like your typical bloated middle aged granddad and Roger looks like a frail old lady. And neither of them can sing for **** these days. The performance was incredible from a production/stagecraft perspective, but it was rather sad to see them do this sloppy little medley which drew 90% from just two albums in their huge catalogue. And seeing that "The Who" is just Pete and Roger these days made me feel sad. For some reason it just seems wrong for two people to still carry on under the moniker of a band name. It's almost like Lindsey and Stevie carrying on as "Fleetwood Mac" without John and Mick.

I never really thought of him as a great singer, but Pete sounded awful. It was painful to hear.
