Alternate covers/pressings for 'Out Of The Cradle'

Have the decision to have two different covers for 'Out Of The Cradle' ever been explained? The completist in me would love to know the reasoning behind it...

I wondered about this too. Before the album was to come out, National Record Mart had an ad with a pic of the cover, the one with Lindsey at a console. Yet, when the album came out, it had the cover picture of just Lindsey. Maybe they just decided at the last minute that the pic of Lindsey where you could actually see his face was better. Personally, I like the inside pic of him in the white shirt with rolled up sleeves.

I always like the ones where you can't see his face. Mick has 2 in his book that I just adore. I made a t-shirt out of one of them and I will make a t-shirt out of the rain room photo too one day. I guess thing are always better shrouded, in my mind.

As for the one at the console, I wore a T with that pic to a show and he said he liked my shirt.

Lucky you that Lindsey commented! I like the console pic too. Also, a rain room shirt is a great idea! I wonder if he misses the rain room or if he put one in his later home(s)?!

I never knew there was two different covers. Although on the two occasions I bought the album on CD, the jewel case insert on the front of the disc was flip flopped. In other words... the first time I ever bought it, it was Lindsey's face. The 2nd time I purchased the CD, it was the picture of Lindsey's hand/guitar. (the insert had just been turned over).

Now my copy of the CD has the Lindsey's face cover turned to the side, and that is just wrapped around but not attached to the mixing table cover.
