Stevie on Tom Petty's Live Anthology

Hey Ya'll...haven't posted in awhile, but I just thought I'd let everyone (who didn't already) know that Stevie is on the Live Anthology - Disc 2 ... it's the live "Learning To Fly" from (I believe) Bonnaroo ... Stevie's vocals, while still background, are much more pronounced than in any of the boots I've heard (I have the Gainsville show...which is great, but this is better...) Anyway...I hadn't read anywhere that she was on it, so I thought perhaps others would like to know as well...btw, the whole box is excellent, too, if you like Tom...

oh, and Happy New Year to you all, too!

That's great to hear!! I have heard tracks from the set and was planning on getting it anyhow. I was kind of surprised that "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" or one of the other tracks she has sung with him live over the years didn't make the cut.

yeah, i was actually hoping for some rarities...Wild Thing, Knocking On Heaven's Door - something ... even 'Run To You' would have been awesome... but I guess any Stevie is better than none at all, right? :)

Thanks for the heads-up, I bought the song on iTunes and Stevie sounds beautiful on it (even though she doesn't sing much).

Stevie is at the back through the whole thing but she's got a goooorgeous white shawl on that sparkles when the light hits it. She gets a close up too :]

I have to admit that I'm a little surprised & disappointed that Learning to Fly is the ONLY Stevie apprearance on the entire 4 CD set. Surely there must have been a fantastic live Insider (new OR old) to put on there? And what about Needles & Pins?

I think "Needles & Pins" was a one off thing (the version on "Pack Up The Plantation") and since this new set is all unreleased stuff, I think that's why it's not there. But what about "I Will Run To You" from Stevie's "Wild Heart" tour. Did Tom only record HIS shows?

I know what you mean...but, both Needles & Pins and Insider were released already live and are currently available still, as Skuncles mentioned, on Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers - Pack Up The Plantation: Live!

I was REALLY wishing some of the songs from the Australian tour with Bob Dylan would have shown up...maybe they will release more from his vaults if this does well...I also wish they would do an official release from his '06 tour with Stevie...I LOVED that tour, and they sounded so great together...I do love when Stevie sings with Tom...Duets of BVs, they just sound great together...

Yep, those cuts from PLANTATION are from the Forum in 1981. I have no idea whether they sang NEEDLES at another Heartbreakers show -- Stevie guested at about fifteen Heartbreakers shows throughout 1981 all over the country. I bet there were some fantastic performances of special songs, but even the Heartbreakers collectors I've talked to don't have many of those guest spots recorded.

checking the liner notes when I purchased my copy, and I didn't see any mention of La Nicks minus this track.

I was also disappointed that even though TP used tapes (For this set) from the 1981 LA Forum shows (June 28-29-30) that none of those tracks featured La Nicks.
