Tis the season for some hot chocolate perhaps?

1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup heavy cream
4 cups milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine chocolate chips and heavy cream. Stir continuously until chocolate chips have completely melted. Stir in the milk, and vanilla extract. Stir occasionally until heated through.

If you want it sweeter, just add some sugar, or sweetener of your choice to get it to your taste.

Are you a soup person? I make a lot of veg soups (butternut squash, potato, etc) and some take cream. There are some good recipes here:

http://allrecipes.com/Recipes/Soups-...arian/Top.aspx

Here's two with fish:
http://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/s...th-lemon-cream
http://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/s...y-tomato-sauce

I've not made this yet but I saved it as a favourite
http://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/f...ek-and-spinach

I like food and wine website as the recipe search is pretty user friendly (enter ingredients and requirements, such as veg, easy, etc).

This sounds "to die for" delicious. I think I'll try it!:xoxo:

It is delish. Top it with some marshmallows or some whipped cream for that extra special treat.

Cook two cans of plum tomatoes in their juice with a sauteed onion and a clove of garlic for twenty minutes, add 1 cup of loosely packed basil leaves.

Puree with a hand blender, add cream (1 cup) and cook for ten minutes more. It's seriously the best tomato basil soup ever.

I will try to find my (published) recipe for Pork Butt Chardonnay & post it here.

This is serious, actually. I need to save money so I have to make my own lunches and dinners!?!? And all I can cook currently is spaghetti with meat sauce and rice, veggies, and tuna!!!!

so I'll be on the look out for good easy recipes on this thread.

Shouldn't it be Chardonnay Pork Butt? I mean, your version sounds like wine with chunks in it.

I always use heavy cream to make Chicken Marsala. You can look on various sites such as epicurious.com for recipes, or I can try and recite my own version if you'd like.

BTW, if it is a savory recipe, it has to exclude meat or eggs. Fish and crustaceons are ok though.

Umm... yeah, Louie's referring to the cream recipe he uses for his marsala.

Duhh... That's what I get for glancing! :o

You could make a variation of Marsala using Tofu! You can do most anything with the variations of Tofu out there. :D

mylittledemon 12-29-2009 06:45 PM

Blargh! I hate tofu. Well, I guess maybe it's because I've yet to have any that I liked.
