Ever ditched the girl/guy but kept the music?!
Hey everyone,
While driving home for Christmas in a most Chris Rea-esque fashion, my christmas mix tape (yes, tape!) wouldn't play and instead I was listening to John Hiatt for 2 hours as I drove through horrible weather. It made for quite a journey as I drove North (not South, that would have been more fitting!) Anyway. since my ex-girlfriend introduced me to John Hiatt I got to thinking that it may be unusual to still listen to people who an ex turned you on to in the first place! I did know who he was (mainly because of my love for Bonnie Raitt) but had never explored his back catalogue until she came along. She is Dutch and quite a few years older than me, and he still tours there regularly, so she made me a real fan! I don't think I'd ever listen to him if she was in the room though, that could be a bit awkward... So, what's the etiquette on this? haha Thoughts...? |
I can't tell you how many "ex-es" have said every time they hear a Fleetwood Mac song they think of me.

Ditched the Georgia girl and kept Purple Rain.

I'm searching my memory... and I can't remember ever respecting ANY of my ex's musical tastes! One was obsessed with Mariah Carey, another with Tori Amos, another with show tunes, and another with Shirley Manson/Garbage. Garbage is about the only one of that whole lot I can even halfway tolerate, but their music gets tiring pretty quickly for me :sorry:. My ex who liked Tori Amos had a not so flattering nickname for Stevie... and I came up with one for Tori in return. I'd probably offend people if I posted either one on here publicly! :o
