» April 29, 1973: Stockton police engaged in a wild melee with some of the 20,000 people attending a concert featuring Fleetwood Mac (pre-Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks), Canned Heat, Buddy Miles, the Elvin Bishop Group and the Gabe Christopher Band at Billy Hebert Field. There were a reported 42 arrests, 30 drug overdoses - and 150 police used tear gas and rubber bullets to battle a barrage of rocks, bottles and bricks from inside and outside the Oak Park ballpark. Police, 28 of whom were injured, said the incident was precipitated by a fight between white and black motorcycle riders outside the stadium.
