Alexa Ray Joel
I have to admit that I was shocked hearing about this, but being the daughter of two famous people probably takes it's toll.
http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/20...l_be_fine.html It really made me sad. I hope she gets the help that she needs. Lee :distress: |
Yes. Her attempt is more of the "cry for help" variety than the "'I'm seriously done with life'" one. She'll get the help she needs.

I've always been against jumping on the "he/she is a child of him/her so they're only this/that as a result of rich parents, good connections, and not hard work" bandwagon. Frankly, all of that is a given but the person also has to work EXTRA hard to be taken seriously, which is a great deal more work than it seems. And much more pressure.
I've heard music from artists whose parents have some level of fame and, honestly, it's a mixed package. But the way they are always broadcasted as "son/daughter of ___" is consistently a standard. That comes with the territory but also takes a strong individual to deal with it. it sucks that your worth is measured against the success of your mom/dad's and that even if you do something outstanding your always going to be compared to them. Alexa, whose music I have never heard, probably feels pressured to sound great musically and then be as gorgeous as her mom. And that's unfair, imo, because she's apparently quite successful in her right and also a very pretty girl. I hope she does get the support she needs and people aren't going to mock her or make her feel worse because she went through this. I know that all of these spawn of celebs seem to, more than less, develop careers in the arts or something where they're constantly scrutinized or photographed, and in a lot of ways the ones who have to struggle from nothing to get to the top seem to be the ones who develop the thicker skin with more ease then those who've been preened and cushioned and not used to it. That was a lot of writing, but I do like her for some reason. I read an interview and she just seemed to have it together in terms of what she was looking for in life, and not really centered around getting herself photographed or partying all day and night. |
