Singer Leona Lewis slapped during UK book signing

LONDON (AP) -- A spokesman for Leona Lewis says the singer has been hit by a young man at a book signing session at a central London store.

Stuart Bell said Lewis was signing autographs and posing for photographs Wednesday when a man from the line came up and hit her. He was immediately led away by security guards and later arrested by police.

Bell said Lewis has gone to see a doctor as a precaution. Lewis shot to fame after winning the "X-Factor" reality show

London's Metropolitan police said in a statement that a 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and is being held in custody.

Could you imagine if this had happened to Stevie at Barnes and Noble? Everyone would have beat the crap out of that guy. He would have never gotten out of there alive!

I never even heard of Leona Lewis. :shrug:

She won the X factor in the UK a couple of years ago. Had a big hit with 'Bleeding Love'

I think her 15 minutes have run their course so maybe it was done for a little publicity.:shrug:

Not sure if anyone would choose to get whacked on the face for a bit of publicity??
