Stevie's own gold record for "The Wild Heart" on eBay??

Okay, is this for real? Any skeptics out there? I am soooo tempted... but one question. How on earth did this get out of Stevie's hands? Is there a mole in Camp Nicks (cough-Christopher-cough)??

ahahahahaha...that made me laugh! The original dealer was named Christopher...a different last name though. What do you think...alias??

Why would Stevie not have this??? Would she even know it was missing? Wouldn't she want it back?

Musicman408 10-05-2009 09:35 PM

... someone wanna tell me why Stevie would be getting rid of this???

GypsyBlueEyes 10-05-2009 10:05 PM

She probably doesn't know that its missing. Is it possible that (if she were to think about it) that she would think it was in storage or something? I guess when you have more than one house and have a lot of possessions to pack when you move from one place to another (and have other people packing them for you), its easy to assume that something is just packed away somewhere. Either way, that's not something you just wake up one day and decide you don't want anymore. If its legit...and if she doesn't know its floating around waiting to be sold...I'm really sad for her. That's not something that should be sold like this IMO. It just seems wrong to think that its up on ebay :(

You'd be surprised. I have an award that I bought off ebay. The celebrity it belonged to had a yard sale at her home and it was part of a "lot" of items the ebay seller purchased there. Sometimes, it's not that these things aren't special, but it doesn't necssarily mean they're going to decorate their home with them...

Yes but also there are more than one made of these things. They go to the artists, record execs and other "industry people" connected to the label and the making of the record. So it could have come from anyone.

GypsyBlueEyes 10-05-2009 10:17 PM

Hmm...that could be true. I didn't think of it like that. I guess there is no way to prove that the seller is correct in saying that it once hung on her wall.

I thought those were given specifically to the industry people etc., and would have their names on them?

I once saw a Wild Heart gold record priced around $2000 in a memorabilia store in Maui... and it was DEFINITELY Stevie's, as the owner of the store had pictures of her with it when she apparently recieved it.... and he also had pictures of her signing the back, which is obviously still visible. Sooooo I donno.

Yes, but generally these RIAA awards are actually custom-addressed to the recipient- even to minor industry insiders. Stevie is the recipient of this one (supposedly). But then again, that doesn't discount the possibility that Stevie may have received multiple plaques... but a record can only go "Gold" once (as opposed to multi-platinum), so it wouldn't make any sense for them to make multiple gold awards with Stevie as the addressee. I am just so not versed on these things.

Is it possible that this could have been among the trove of items sold in the Modern Records garage sale (which yielded all of those master tapes)?? Perhaps she received the award and then promptly left it somewhere in a coke/alcohol-fueled party haze? Does anyone have any intel on how these awards are made/awarded? Or was it an inside job... by... oh, I don't know...

I have a gold record for another release that was presented to Stevie. It used to hang in the Modern Records office in New York when they had that office open. The artist can get multiple copies of a single award made up for themselves if they (or their management) pays for it.

Well, considering that The Wild Heart went Platinum on the same day it was also certified Gold, its entirely possible that the Gold album award, rendered superfluous, ended up in someone's private collection because Stevie gave it away, or something.

LukeA 10-06-2009 05:29 AM

I'd also like to add (as others have commented) that just because it was "presented to Stevie" doesn't mean a damned thing. Stevie could have ordered fifty Gold Wild Heart records to give to everyone listed in the back of her tour book- all "to Stevie Nicks". Its no trick to get a Gold/Platinum record- everyone from low level record label staff to advertising agencies to concert promoters get these things. No big deal. This listing is overpriced.
