Let's Talk About . . . If You Ever Did Believe
After all . . . Why NOT!? . . . . .
:D |
Hah... I was thinking about starting a thread about this song yesterday. It's one of my absolutely favorite Stevie songs. It's one of those songs I could never grow tired of listening. The combination of those lyrics, and that melody are simply amazing. It is so full of honesty, and despair, and I've found this song to be a perfect soundtrack in some situations in my life. In my opinion, it might be the best collaboration between Stevie and Sheryl. Too bad this song was neglected, and left out of every best of compilation. They should at least include the video on CV. Stevie looks beautiful in it. As for the movie, (Practical Magic) it was entertaining, and good, but I never really cared that much about it. However, I bet that you just CAN'T make a movie about witches, and not include Stevie on the soundtrack. :)

I" Adore this song. Both the Practical Magic songs are wonderful. ( I also LOVE the movie) The video should have Absolutely been included in CV. Im still on the hunt for a high quality version.

I Miss You and Planets of the Universe were used in Charmed. Also I really like IYEDB also good song! The video isn't too bad i like the part in the end where she is spinning around in front of the candles. I think it's funny she claims not to be a witch but she gets put on soundtrack of witch related stuff!

There's a sliver of "Forest of the Black Roses". That in itself makes me love this song. Oh and the "Gold Dust Woman" acoustic hums. Win win win win win.

I love the movie the video and the song along with her solo version of Crystal as well on the soundtrack of the movie. I do wish she would sing this solo on tour some time it would be awesome i think even if she did an accoustic version with the waddy on accoustic guitar and sharon,Jana and Lori singing along with her on this would be awesome I do believe it will be awesome if she decides to put this in a future tour set if possible. |
Does anyone have the original demo of this song? Did she make a demo of it back in the 70's?
|
Love this song! The whole "I'd give anything to see you one more time" feel of it gets to me every time. The best part is the "baby don't leave me's" at the end...I wish there was a third harmony though. Oh well...leaves me a place to sing.

Oh I agree, this is one of my favorite stevie/sheryl collaborations as well; I was so underwhelmed by their work together on Sheryl's C'mon C'mon record (you can hardly hear Stevie on any of the tracks). Whenever I can hear IYEDB, I can clearly hear both of them there's no denying that their voices compliment each other and blent well.
In regard to the video, it's fantatistic...Stevie looks drop-dead gorgeous in it. |
I think there is a demo for this song, but a lot of people complain it is a lot slower compared to the original and it doesn't sound like Stevie is singing it.

I have a few decent demos-- pretty good quality and I think they sound relatively old...
