Clueless computer newbie!
I'm not new to listening to Fleetwood Mac, but I am new to using this generation of computers. I did use them in the '80s, '90s for school. In 2000, I had a webtv....anyway, I wanted to ask some questions about downloading videos because I'm clueless at this. Can videos from youtube be downloaded onto a dvd playable in a dvd player? Can videos (not movies, but music) downloaded from places such as vh1 classic be put on a dvd playable in a dvd player? These are probably dumb questions, but I need to know. I have a new Dell Inspiron computer w/Windows Home Premium(64 bit) installed. I have figured out how to put home movies on a dvd but cannot get my computer to save videos from online as 'video material'. It saves them as 'documents'. Help!

This might get yoiu started
1. Copy the link of the YouTube page that actually plays the video you want.
2. Go to http://keepvid.com/ 3. Paste the link in to the URL bar at the top of the page 4. Then click "Download" on the right side of the bar. 5. You'll then see 2 green "Download" links in the middle of the page. 6. You can use either one but I use the 2nd one (mp4 - High Quality) 7. Mouse over the green download link. 8. RIGHT click, and "Save Target As" (& save it where you want it on your computer) 9. Go to http://media-convert.com/convert/ ...and convert to the format you want if you don't want mp4. Whatever software you use to edit & author your DVD's might have an encoding tool you can use to change them to mpgs or avi's (or if not you can type "mp4 to mpg" in Google and some cheap stuff should come up you can use, some will be fully functional for 30 or so days before they want you to decide on purchase and by then you'll know if it's worth it or not). Hope this helps. :) John |

I love you Wetcamelfood. I happened to be listening outside of the classroom door and am grateful for the above instructions. (PS good Question holidayroad. There's a great live thing with Steve Perry & Journey that I have been longing to get...."She's just a small town girl, living in a lonely world....") Soon, it will be mine, all mine. |
Glad it helped. :) Media Convert is often busy so that's why I suggested the Google search for converting software. I liked the software I used with XP but it wouldn't work with my new Vista tower so I had to try some different things. KeepVid only works with a few sites but if you use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer you should be able to use FF's "Download Helper" for most other sites vids (though that will only let you save the lower quality flv video file versions). Good luck! :)

Not a clueless newbie...
but ironically Debbie's laptop died on me this morning (Oddly the day before the start of my OH SO FAVORITE MONTH, weird that I almost had a wreck in the parking lot as I left and having the Grady County Sheriff blow by my vehicle at around 100MPH freaked me out) so I had to make a trip to purchase a new PC (HP G60-441US Notebook)

Thanks!
Thank you for great advice! I felt so stupid asking for help with my computer, but I had tried everything I knew to do to get videos downloaded correctly! This was a major help!!
