World Turning tab question

Hi,

Does anyone have an idea of what Lindsey is going with his right hand on his acoustic version of "World Turning?" I've seen tabs online, the GuitarWorld acoustic video, etc. but there is something I'm just not getting.

I know the notes to the little riff itself but there is some insistent thing happening with the thumb that lets the song fly on one guitar.

Any help or pointers would be much appreciated. I know it is some picking pattern with the right hand.

James

It's that Travis picking thing he does ala "The Chain."

I've not seen an acoustic version of "World Turning" btw...

I believe this is the video in question?

Ahh yes. That song is mostly all "thumb" ...as well as your middle finger on the right hand.

Idk if anyone's noticed, but the opening guitar part on Loving Cup sounds remarkably similar to the verse portion of World Turning. Or maybe I'm crazy...
