Woodstock's 40th

so is anyone celebrating, remembering?~ i had just turned 1 when woodtock happened, but seeing as my parents were total hippies, i grew up w/ it as a staple in my life~

i was just watching on the news how people are back at woodstock celebrating the 40th & richie havens was playing, it was awesome to see~ besides the obvious that i love, jefferson airplane, the who, janis & jimi, my fav act of woodstock was the 5th to take the stage the first day, sweetwater, love, love them~ there was a movie awhile back about the band called "sweetwater, a true rock story", w/ amy jo johnson playing the lead singer nansi nevins, the movie is steller, one of my favs!!!~

I vaguely remember Woodstock on the evening news. The footage was unbelievable and the story played for what seems like weeks.

I almost went. I was visiting relatives in Boston that week. My cousins & I were going to sneak out and hitchhike from Boston to the festival, I was 13, they were a few years older. Unfortunately, somehow, Aunt & Uncle caught wind of the plan and but a kabosh on it.

Oh, what could have been...(he said, wistfully)

I celebrated by watching Woodstock on DVD. I purchased the new Woodstock 40th anniversary box set and sold my old copy, so someone else could have it. I also wore my Woodstock poster t-shirt to school last Friday. Of course, my students asked a lot of questions about it, because many of them didn't know what it was. :distress: Well, now they know.

that is awesome~ i wore a woodstock tshirt too, target had authentic woodstock ones & i got a dusty pink one of the poster~ i wanted the one that had a pic of the crowd on the front & on the back said something like "we were only expecting breakfast in bed for 40,000", but they only had xxl ones & that would be a dress for me~

i watched the dvd too, but i only have the original, i was trying to get it on blu ray, but it was sold out everywhere~ we also listened to CSN, jimi, janis, sweetwater, the who & jefferson airplane~ & i played a couple of melanie tunes, "i got a brand new pair of roller skates..."
love love it!!!~

I unfortunatley had to work Saturday, but I wore my Woodstock tshirt I got from Target. I got it in the men's department. It's black with the dove sitting on the guitar. It has a washed-out worn look to it. I got compliments on it all day. It was hot here in St.louis, so it was hard for me to be near the sun because I was sweating like crazy. Wearing black is good, but wearing black is bad in the summer. You get hot!:blob1::blob2:
