Monday Morning On The Radio
 

There's a station here in L.A., 100.3, that plays a really wide variety of music. And they play a lot of album cuts not singles. This morning about 5:45am I was flipping around and they were playing Monday Morning. It was the first time I'd ever heard it on the radio. I must say it was quite the treat and for some reason hearing it on the radio gave it a little excitement to hearing a song I've heard thousands of times before.

99.5 The Mountain ("Mountain of Classics") plays The Chain, Gypsy and Tusk quite a bit....and last night while driving home from work...."Monday Morning" serenaded me as I coasted down the hill... It was a nice end to a stressful day and yes, it was Monday. :D

From Fleetwood Mac’s self-titled 1975 album, “Monday Morning” is kind of an up-beat tune about love fading between Friday and Monday. “Fleetwood Mac” was the band’s first album with Lindsey Buckingham on guitar and Stevie Nicks on vocal. It preceded the crazy party that was “Rumours” and the sad, dreamy comedown that was “Tusk,” so if you want to look at 1975 to 1979 for Fleetwood Mac as a drug trip, “Fleetwood Mac” is the come-up album. “Monday,” one of Lindsey’s best songs from that period, really hones in on that vibe.

Everyone is entitled to their own interpretation, but I never thought this song was about a love affair that faded away over one weekend.

didn't lindsey or someone said it's a part of a trilogy of love going sour over time or something? monday morning, second hand news and what other one? gyow is similar enough on the timeline to shn so must have been something else.

What? It's hones...

You home in on a target or desired outcome, in this case an upbeat vibe. You could hone (sharpen or improve) your skill at creating the vibe. But you don't "hone in" on something....unless this mistake becomes so common that it will eventually be acceptable.

I agree with the other guy. It's totally acceptable. You might be correct MikeInNv, I don't know. But in the century, anything goes.

I hear Monday Morning once in the while here on the radio.The stations here are great playing the classic FM/Stevie tunes. but they suck on playing any new stuff.

And actually, the song talks about changes in love from Monday to Friday, not the other way around! "monday morning you sure look fine/by Friday I've got traveling on my mind"

Which I've always taken as being about the ups and downs in his and Stevie's relationship at the time.... sorta like, one day I think you're the greatest, and a few days later you are so irritating me I'm ready to walk out... except "I'll be there if you want me to/no one else that could ever do" and of course we know he never did leave her, she really was the only one that would ever do for a long time even after they split.

i think he was talking about it in some radio interview from several years ago.
