Perry Farrell & Leann Rimes covered SDMHA...

At Lollapalooza today...a friend of mine texted, I don't think he was joking, since it was already announced that Leeann would be a guest on the kiddie stage. I hope some video surfaces, talk about an odd combo.

Edit: Found a video - dark, but the sound is alright. Leeann sounds great!

The Lollapalooza website confirms that they performed together.

This is perhaps the most bizarre pairing I could imagine!!

michaelD 08-09-2009 08:13 PM

I was there and it was bizarre...

daniellaaarisen 08-09-2009 08:46 PM

That's bizzare, I agree....

I was supposed to fly out for Lollapalooza. And I was also supposed to be at Outside Lands for all three days in SF in 2 weeks, but that won't happen either. I am SO MAD.

Why aren't you still there - you don't like Band of Horses or Jane's Addiction? :D

I'd love to go to Outside Lands one year - just for the weather! Perhaps next year, if their lineup isn't so similar to ACL. I'm so "meh" on this year's ACL lineup that I didn't buy a 3-day wristband, just bought a single day ticket for Sunday so I can see Pearl Jam, the B-52s, Dead Weather and Clutch.

I want to see TV On the Radio and The National SO BADLY. Modest Mouse and Band of Horses are awesome live, too, and I'm interested in how Jack White's new band, the Dead Weather, will be on stage. Plus, Silversun Pickups, MIA, Pearl Jam, Thievery Corporation, Portugal the Man, the Duke Spirit, Heartless Bastards... meh I'm so sad I can't be there :( BUT I get to see Beirut at Treasure Island in October and I am beyond excited for that!

Glad to see the video surfaced. Leann is great, but it's too bad they didn't try for some harmonies. That's half the fun of the song.

See what I mean? Outside Lands has the same headliners as ACL, and about a dozen or so of the same mid-tier acts. Have they announced a replacement for the Beastie Boys yet? Tool and the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs are rumoured to be the replacement at ACL. Doesn't matter to me anyway, since I'm only going on Sunday. Although, I may try to volunteer Fri and Sat just so I can get in free, hang w/ my friends, and not feel pressured that I just have to see anything.

Band of Horses ARE a kick-ass live band - saw them at an aftershow last year, in a relatively small club. I love Dead Weather's CD, a friend of mine saw them in DC recently, she loved them, and that's not even her favorite genre of music. So, if she liked 'em, they must have really been good! I saw them do "Hang You From the Heavens" on Conan, they killed it.

Ugh, I wanna go to ACL.... David Ford was there a few years ago when he just started out and although I usually hate whiny stuff, I ADORE him and I first heard him at that show. No idea how I convinced my parents to let me go to that haha.

So many bands I want to see... meh.

LeAnn did sound great on this! I've never really found a cover of this song that I like but this is good! I love that she made a couple of (minor) changes to the melody, that always wroks well if someone is a good enough singer to pull it off, which she of course is!

I do think that it's just LeAnn that made it enjoyable though, the band sounded bored!

Livia 08-10-2009 10:36 AM

The band members are a bunch of kids from School of Rock, they're all 17 or under. So for that reason, I think they did alright. :D They covered "Here Comes the Sun" too, haven't listened to it yet, but noticed the same youtube person posted it as well, better lighting on that one.

Isn't Perry Farrell the guy who attended the Burbank filming for THE DANCE, & later told the press that Fleetwood Mac was underappreciated for its musicianship & professionalism -- its ability to actually play instruments?
