Using the quick reply button
I'm finding that when I click on the "quick reply" button it quotes the message the same as clicking on the "Quote" button.
Is that my settings, am I doing something wrong (it has only recently started happening), are other people having this problem or is it just me? |
Try this
This is almost a month old now but to answer your question: It's part of the board settings. As for whether you're doing anything "wrong" depends on the type of interfacing you prefer as part of your QR response. Just below the Quick Reply box, you will see Options. Check whether 'Quote message in reply?' is checked or not. That I believe is the issue you're seeing - it may have gotten checked by accident.
Also under Edit Options in the User Control Panel, there is both Standard Editor and Basic Editor to be found when it comes to customizing Message Editor Interface options (though this doesn't appear to be directly related to that). Hope that helps. Jb |

Round 2
Make sure to flush your cookies and clear your cache also. You could fire up a free prog like CCleaner to ensure you're doing it right. Also you may want to check if javascript is turned on. Look in your browser Tools/Options or Tools/Content or Tools/Add-ons (depending on browser) to enable it if need be.
If you happen to be running Internet Explorer 8, try click the Compatibility View toolbar button once you log in. It's next to the Refresh button on the Address Bar. Clicking that allows for displaying any given website as it was viewed in IE7, which in turn corrects display problems like misaligned text, text boxes, etc. You can also maintain a list within IE8 for any sites you prefer to be displayed in Compatibility View mode. Go to the Command Bar > Tools > Compatibility View Settings. There you can to add sites to the CV list as needed. You could also switch browsers temporarily if you run a second one, to check if this issue is related to a specific type of browser or version (fire up Firefox if you run IE, or IE if your default is FF). I assume you tried Basic Editor in the CP to see if that might clear or reset things, before switching back to Standard (though that's mostly related to vB code and HTML tags in the interface). Beyond that I suppose it could be a tiny bug in the the PHP code in the vB template/software that needs to be addressed, one that is possibly browser centric. You never know. All I see in the vB FAQ is: When using 'Quick Reply' you can choose to quote a particular post if you are replying to something someone wrote. You may need to click the Quick Reply button in a post to activate the Quick Reply box before you can type into it. Who knew it would be so simple, and pain free! LOL Ah well, as in so many other things pooter or cyber related, so many possibilities, so little time. Give the above a shot though. You may strike gold yet. ;) |
