When I'm not listening to Fleetwood Mac, I...
Fill in the blank!
I ride horses competitively around the US http://i25.tinypic.com/33uwg20.jpg and write. A LOT. I have examples of that, too, but I don't wanna bore anyone. Oh and I listen to a LOT of music. It's a little nauseating... it's rarely silent around me. What about you guys? |

"bore" us. Post some examples of your work. As for me, I'm just a dreamaker. |

I also like to write. I like to sing. I like to play guitar and piano. I also like to go places with my friends, namely the beach. :) And talk/text on my cellphone. xD |
How cool that you ride horses competitively- I'd like to hear more about that.
When I'm not listening to FM, I am a wife, mother, daughter, friend, and clinical social worker/therapist. |
I SING!!!! I do everything that is music, you know, I write songs, play a little guitar and piano, I write poems and listen to other music though it's a lot of Stevie/Mac music going around in my room I also LOVE Tori Amos :) I'm in school also...

When I'm not listening to Fleetwood Mac, I . . .
-- am reading books of criticism. |
When I'm not listening to Fleetwood Mac......
I'm wondering why the HELL I'm NOT listening to Fleetwood Mac!!! |
When I'm not listening to Fleetwood Mac...
(and honestly, most of the time it's while I'm listening to Fleetwood Mac...) ...I write radio commercials (professionally) ...I spend time with the people I care about ...I play guitar and write music ...I listen to tons of other music...examples include: Ryan Adams, Reba McEntire, Supertramp, ABBA...and tons of other things that strike my fancy. |
When I'm not listening to Fleetwood Mac, I............
Am doing homework (I graduate college in 3 days though, so scratch that pretty soon) Spending time with the love of my life (or the current one, anyway) Explaining to my friends WHY I love Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks and why they shouldn't think I'm weird for it. Editing stories for the magazine I work for (I'm an editor...however, I do not have to be grammatically correct on this message board because it's my escape) Cooking (though not very well) Writing songs and singing (I play guitar) And sometimes, listening to Fleetwood Mac is part of those activities, especially when I am editing stories, I put on the Mac. I'm pretty boring...wow, yeah, this was extremely boring to write, lol. I guess I'm not all that exciting, huh? |

Thanks Viv. I'm glad I don't sound as boring as I actually am, lol. I loved reading everyone else's responses too because since this IS a Fleetwood Mac message board, we often get very consumed in their lives, but we never get to hear what everyone else is doing.
Dani, I think thats awesome about you riding horses; I loved your pic. I just wish I could even stay on a horse, haha. I forgot to add one other thing I do when I'm not listening to Fleetwood Mac... Writing. I actually just finished writing a book and I am very excited about it. Goal: to make it in Oprah's book club...unrealistic, but everyone needs a goal, haha. |

I LOVE that there are so many writers and musicians on here. I used to be really musically inclined (vocal training for 8 years, guitar, piano, alto sax, flute... the list goes on), but I got so busy riding that I just needed a break. Music is the love of my life that I told myself would always be there waiting for me and yet I still haven't picked it back up... I guess the Mac attracts creative people :)
I can post a thing or two on here. But what to choose.... I write a bit of everything, so its difficult-- prose pieces, stories... and the list goes on. I only have my two most recent poems with me (written within the last 3 days) so this'll be easier than usual :). I always feel like I'm betraying myself by "selecting" my writing for any purpose haha Gold Dust (no, this is not Stevie related whatsoever) It makes the pocketwatch far from My pocket Tick against my thigh At the type of speed My heartbeat misses. It's like The rain can't be wrong today If it's dropping gold for me From the hands of a man Birthed in foreign fields-- Expelled from a womb That still tells her wives' tales In terms of pesos and siestas. It's "adios" to that For the man Who now loans me the dollar So I forget how to nap-- Forget how to eat in a world Taking it too easy In a world That won't stop moving In a world Bound to a clock From some world That can't tell when time's up. I choose to roll in gold dust In a world Where I can't be golden. Cocoon I dealt with my cocoon: Birthed from the ancient alabaster columns Of a long lost civilization; Draped under a star-spangled banner In a poppy field; Encompassed by city lights In every which direction— Bound by the size of the bills In my neighbor’s stuffed pockets And chained, At the end of every day, Under a blank name and face. Yet such a cocoon served me well, Kept my arms from spanning wide enough To tug too hard at my heartstrings. I was situated just right So that I could pluck them, To itch that scratch— Scratch that itch that was fed Every time I had nothing To cradle Or be cradled by. “Play for me soon,” they cried, And I would. I’d play anything To hear the slightest of empty sighs Escape them, To feel the faintest skip Of a heartbeat or two Disrupt the gentle sway of the room We stood in. The transience once fueled me. It asked to persevere; It wanted the single instance in time When a specific note I played Was a little prettier than the rest To sit quietly at the bottom Of an underground box, Awaiting revival— A time when my blank name and face Became beautiful While I tried my best to explain The ugliest things I have ever seen. I used to deal with my cocoon— When the claps drove me past the poppies And the frayed flags on every All-American wrap-around porch. I dealt with my cocoon Until the ugliest things I had ever seen Had nothing to say to me anymore. |
When I'm not listening to Fleetwood Mac -
- I'm about to start sixth form (for those of you who aren't familiar with the British education system, it's like college) and I'm taking English Literature, Pyschology, Politics and History. - I write songs, which I've been doing since I was about seven. They were God awful when I was little. I was a nineties' child, so I'm sure you can imagine what they were like. Now, they've got a lot better. - I read, particularly romance novels (Jilly Cooper, Marian Keyes, Sophie Kinsella etc.) and crime fiction (Martina Cole) and I am the self-confessed ultimate Harry Potter nerd. - I sing. I also listen to a lot of other music. For example: Kate Bush, Roxy Music, Tori Amos, The Cure, Bat For Lashes, Peter Gabriel etc. www.last.fm/sameoldscenexx That'll do for now. I lead a very boring existence! |
