Stevie Nicks: Wants American Idol's Megan Joy? & fans are STILL STEALING her music!!
By Rob Lewis
May 2, 2009 Does Stevie Nicks want American Idol's Megan Joy to play her in the Fleetwood Mac biopic? There is a lot of anonymous chatter from those close to the situation, and the underlying theme appears that they are openly considering the intriguing possibility of attractive American Idol finalist Megan Joy testing for the part of Stevie Nicks in an upcoming Fleetwood Mac biopic. The supergroup's legendary frontwoman is reportedly open to the idea of a newcomer playing her in the as-yet unnamed film. Nicks blasted the idea of Lindsay Lohan taking on the role in a New York Times interview last month. "Over my dead body," the one-time queen of rock said when asked about the troubled Lohan portraying her on film. *** Megan Joy, this year's breath of fresh air on Idol's 8th season, has expressed an interest in future projects such as acting. With a vocal quality similar to Nicks, we just might see her transform herself into the woman who made songs like “Stand Back,” “Gypsy,” and “Rhiannon” standards of the rock era. What about Megan’s signature sleeve tattoo? “With the technology we have today, and after four hours in makeup, you would think you were looking at the 28 year-old Stevie after we finished with Megan,” my source told me. “And her vocals are pretty close, even closer with some coaching and practice.” *** No comment yet from Megan Joy, but be on the lookout for any possible meetings between Megan and Nicks during this year’s Idol tour. http://www.nationalledger.com/artman...72625888.shtml and in other news: No text fix for Stevie Nicks Friends who want to get in touch with Stevie Nicks know not to send an e-mail or reach out by text message, because she won't respond. It's not that she's being rude: Nicks doesn't own a computer or a cell phone. The 60-year-old rock legend, now on tour with Fleetwood Mac, is a proud technophobe. "I believe that computers have taken over the world. I believe that they have in many ways ruined our children. I believe that kids used to love to go out and play," Nicks says in her famously smoky voice. "I believe that social graces are gone because manners are gone because all people do is sit around and text. I think it's obnoxious." Nicks does own an iPod, but she prefers to listen to music - which includes her new CD, "The Soundstage Sessions" - on a boom box. (The CD also comes packaged with a DVD.) Better yet, give her a cassette version, and she'll be in musical heaven. "It sounds better and you'd be convinced," she says. Q: This is your first live project in 22 years. What took so long? A: I don't really know exactly how that happened. Before I knew it, it was 2007 ... (my) tour was over, and I'm sitting in my house going, "I can't believe I'm sitting here again, and I didn't film this show." So I got on my phone and I called my managers, and I said, "Make some calls, because I need to film this show." I'm very, very proud of it. I'm almost glad that I waited this long to do it, because maybe that's what God wanted me to do. Q: You say you hope this project is a blueprint for the next generation. Why do you think there's a lack of strong rock acts? A: Because the music business is in terrible trouble. People are stealing our music. That's all there is to it. In the old days ... they would help you to develop into the artist that they knew you were going to be. In the last 10 years, the record companies don't have the money to do that. I don't know what the answer is to it. The only thing I can say to people is, "Buy music, do not steal music." If you do, you won't have any new music later on. Q: If you and I were having lunch, and I pulled out my cell phone ... A: I'm gonna put my hand on your hand and say, "Turn it off, for now. Just give me an hour, of you, I really want an hour of just you, and your heart. I don't want you talking to someone else while we're having lunch." It's love, you know, it's relationships. I don't want love and relationships to be lost, and I feel like that's happening. Q: Have the nation's economic troubles inspired you musically? A: Absolutely, I want to go home and write Bob Dylan songs, I want to go write radical, rebellious "let's try to make it better" songs. I'm very affected by everything going on. When I do get finished with this Fleetwood Mac tour, I will absolutely write about the political situation, which I have never done before. I have never actually been very political before, and I'm starting to feel more political every day. So, pretty soon, governor (laughs). http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...DDRH170U5O.DTL We'll take any songs at this point. Write about your soaps that you love so much. Just write, already - you are, afterall, a "prolific songwriter". Seriously though, how many more times are we going to hear her blame her "stealing" fans for the fact that she's an artistically dried up songwriter? |
That second article was in my local news paper. A big picture of Stevie on the unleashed tour was on the page with it and the article was around her. It says Stevie in big letters, very cool. The article was also in my grandmothers paper, way over in CA. I'm thinking Liz Rozenburg or whoever is in charge of this sort of thing is just sending this article to the media because it's the best publicity that Stevie can get. She's not going to take her clothes of or get into the news because of her recent DUI charge like other celbs, so this is the best thing to get her name out there. I'm not sure if it is really great that many people are reading how stevie doesn't like tech; but they say any publicity is good.

Gotta be honest...not a big Megan Joy fan. Yes she was different than the other contestants, but there was just something about her voice that kinda put me off. I don't think she'd make the best Stevie...just my 2 cents.

I agree, didn't like Megan Joy at all and don't see the similarity in voices.

I agree! Didn't care for her voice at all. Cute, cute girl, but not only would they need to coach her voice, that jerking motion she made while singing wouldn't cut it in the twirl department. |
She looks more like Reese Witherspoon than Stevie Nicks.

Guys, don't know if any of you saw this or not, but Megan was on Access Hollywood with Kara after she got the boot. She was saying how she had never had a single singing lesson, and Kara was giving her some pointers. Believe me, she sounded SO much better!!!
With some training.....I could see this working! |
