Stay In Your Boots, Stevie
As some of you know, I'm a big proponent of Stevie keeping her classic suede boots on.
Apart from all the visually solid reasons for this, we finally have a scientific explanation for the physiological importance of high heels. http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/s...013016,00.html So keep suffering, Stevie! http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...ellaZaftig.jpg |
You missed the important part of that article David:
"There’s a limit. Anything over 11.5cm, you can’t walk properly; it’s no longer elegant." Some of those platforms are definitely, without a doubt, taller than that. I love the new flat boots she's been wearing, they look great and they are highly fashionable. |
Yeah, the HUGE heels needed to go. She was in pain, and it's not worth it!!!

One day I was inspired enough to write a little essay on my love for Stevie's platform boots.
http://planet-john.blogspot.com/2009...s-and-her.html BTW, when I saw FM at Madison Sq Garden in NYC last month, Stevie was wearing what appeared to be 'the real deal'. However, I have noticed that she doesn't stand or walk the same way as she used to in them. It seems in the pre-1987 period, she sort of teetered or tottered in her stilts, looking like a velvet-booted Colossus. She would stand proud and erect, and sometimes do a little shifting of the weight in her knees while feet were firmly planted on stage. An example of that is in the 'Mirage' concert video, I think it was in 'Rhiannon' she is wrapped in gauze and has it and her arms wrapped around her tightly as Lindsey does his guitar, she is looking at the ground and at the same time, her legs are moving to and fro, but the velvet hoofs are affixed to the stage. Anyone remember that? Now, her stance seems to be perpetually in an 'A' position, her legs stretched apart. It looks so different from her old way of presenting herself on stage. Kind of hard to explain, I think. |

I was just thinking the same thing. Another example of the prior boot action is when she turns sideways during Rhiannon in the Mirage concert and, when she does the high kick and crashes to the floor at the end of that Rhiannon. It is almost as if she has the felt furniture glider things they sell at Wal Mart on the bottom of them. |

Comfort > Style.
If it means bringing back the Frankenboks, so be it. |
