The Beauty and the Beast appreciation thread (from Soundstage)
 

I just had to make a thread about the new studio version of Beauty and the Beast on the Soundstage CD. First of all, Stevie's vocals are amazing and so hauntingly beautiful. Secondly, the orchestra adds so much to this song, and it makes this one of the best tracks on the whole CD. It is completely gorgeous throughout and extremely well produced.

It is my favorite track on the whole CD. That performance proves she's still got it. The version of Landslide is pretty awesome too!!

I was going to make a thead saying exactly this! I actually prefer it to the original studio version. For some reason I've never absolutely loved the song (don't all go for me at once!) but the version on Soundstage is just wonderful. It has made me really fall in love with the song.

I love it too. I think its an incredibly strong performance. LOoOoOve it.

I still perfer the Red Rocks versions. It's my fav.

i know how you feel, tho i always listen to my stevie & mac cd's & such all the way thru, this song, when the lp was released was not one of my favs~ but as stevie has resurected it over the last few years, i have a new love & appreciation for this song~ & the soundstage version is steller~

& i have to agree w/ you too curtis, i was able to attend a show on the rock a little tour, & i really liked it when she did it live, more so than playing the lp~

Yes I have to agree--I never liked it on Wild Heart--but live and on the new CD it is just beautiful and I LOVE it!!

Completely agree - gorgeous rendition. Back in '98 I had a black persian who was dying. I kept thinking this song seemed perfectly about him. Who is the Beauty, who is the Beast. All wrapped in one.

And Beautiful Child is a song I'd sing to my little ones who came after.

So glad she's shared her gifts.
