I just got the Soundstage blu-ray!

And it's great...picture and sound quality are outstanding. Found it at a Sears in Phoenix for $24.95. But for me it just seems wrong that "Dreams" and "Beauty and the Beast" are not on there.

awesome!!!~ i had to get it on blu ray too, it looks so good on the big screen!!!~

Okay, I'm confused on this topic.
Couple of questions:

1) Is "Live in Chicago" the regular DVD the same thing as "Soundstage" on Blu ray? Just wondering. I've got a great entertainment system + Blu ray player so obviously I'd like to get the Blu ray version. I just wanted to make sure it was the same thing.

2) Is this Blu ray being sold exclusively at Sears? I've looked on amazon.com and you have to go through a seller.

Thank you to anyone who can clear some of this up! :)

No, 'Live In Chicago' also includes "Dreams" and the bonus orchestral version of "Landslide," while the Sears Blu-ray disc only features the songs that aired on PBS (its track-listing is identical to the PBS-sold DVD that was released last September).

Yes, at the moment the Blu-ray is only being sold through Sears (along with other Soundstage Blu-ray exclusives). So far there's no word on whether or not a Blu-ray edition will be available commercially.

Hope that helps answer your questions. :)

One has to wonder when Sears exclusive contract for the SoundStage Blu ray DVD editions runs out, will that open the door to the updated Blue ray version that includes "Beauty And The Beast" among the other missing songs. That's just my idea, not from official sources.

I'm starting to think Col. Tom Parker is managing Stevie.
Milk it for all it's worth.

I don't think that will ever happen, because Stevie was not able to obtain the rights to use the film score on the DVD.

Without looking through all my information again, I believe "Beauty And The Beast" was filmed twice, once with the audience (while the film was playing on the background monitors) and then filmed again without the audience, or the film being played in the background. If so there should be no problem with releasing additional material.

BTW, Jewel's SoundStage Blu ray DVD contains much more material than the
standard DVD.

(like I said, this isn't coming from any official information I received)

So cross your fingers, hope to die, I wouldn't tell you no lies.

blu-ray

Just bought the Blu-ray at Sears to and the uncompressed audio paired with the ultra high quality video is a knockout. Sears also carries "The Best of Soundstage" which includes GDW from Chicago and "The Chain" from LIB on Blu-Ray. Both times I've been to Sears, GDW has been on the giant TVs.

Yes, but both versions have the film score on them, meaning the music from the film. She would have to take their score off and put her score on in order to release it to DVD. If it was such an easy fix, Beauty and the Beast would be on the released DVD already with no problem.

I think you may have misunderstood Stevie's comment in that radio interview. She said that the problem with the French copyright office arose because she had essentially "removed" the film's original score (composed by Georges Auric) by showing it on the screens while the band and orchestra played her "Beauty And The Beast" in its place.

I've been a little baffled, too, by the fact that they filmed it twice yet still didn't/couldn't use it. After all, if the movie isn't playing behind her, then there's no issue whatsoever regarding the removal of Auric's score.

My best guess is that Stevie felt the performance was incomplete without the footage from the movie that inspired it -- so she chose not to include it unless they could get those rights. All or nothing, you know?

Then again, maybe the second performance of the night simply didn't come out as good as the first one.

Exactly Johnny Stew.

And as I implied in my other post, it's possible it being held back because of
another official Blu-ray release (with the bonus songs included).

Many studios are holding up on releasing Blu-ray titles until the market is
saturated with Blu-ray players. This market is growing, but at a slower pace
than expected. For many, standard DVD quality is good enough.

Maybe at a later date we will recieve:

Stevie Nicks................"Live In Chicago" Complete Blu-ray
Lindsey Buckingham .."Live at the Bass Hall" Blu-ray
Fleetwood Mac............"UNLEASHED" Blu-ray
Iamnotafraid..............."Iamnotafraid Sings Elvis" Blu-ray

I don't think there is a blu-ray of Live In Boston...but I would likely get it if they did release one. What I'd really like to see is a blu-ray of The Dance. Not sure if they used HD cameras for that or not.

my biggest complaint about Live in Boston is the fact the DVD is not anamorphic. I used Handbreak on my Mac to import the DVD and crop out the letterboxing to create an all anamorphic video for playing in iTunes and my iPhone. Maybe I will try converting it to VOB files again and back to DVD. If I crank up the rip time I wont lose too much of the original video resolution and detail, but it will never look true HD like the broadcast version till they release it in HD or at least in anamorphic.
