Belinda and Lindsey

Hey I just found out that Lindsey co-wrote this song from Belinda Carlise's 1986 solo album 'Since You've Gone' (thanks Wikipedia!).

Does anyone know how this came about? I didn't know he wrote for other artists at this time...
