The Record Plant : Where Rumours was recorded
I don't post here anymore really. It has nothing to do with anyone here, the new owner of the web site or the old owner of the Penguin Ledge or anyone who has ever posted here.I just don't post much anywhere on the entire internet much anymore. But the Penguin Ledge is STILL a very important Fleetwood Mac board on the internet. So I wanted to make sure the Ledgies and others that lurk on the board see's this information.I am copying what I posted on the other Mac fan board now.
The name was actually Changed to Just the " The Plant Studio's " Recording Studio, several years ago. This is the recording studio where Fleetwood Mac as we all know, recorded the " Rumours " album and many other famous Rock bands and musicians recorded albums for years. Here is the links that discuss's about them closing it down.from what I can read it sounds like they intend to preserve the building for historical reasons, etc.I think that is a great idea.I think the bands that recorded there, should be the ones to also donate money to preserve it.Since they are rich most of them and can afford to. Here are the most important links, I felt on their web site with information about it.On the first link scroll down to where they talk about the " The Plant " no longer being used to record etc.where they talk about it.The weird thing is.I had not been to that web site in a very long time.I was looking at some very old web sites I had saved and something made me check it out again. Preserve and Cultivate Our Rich Music Legacy!!Target:Building Owner(s), Sausalito Mayor and City Council, Community Foundation (s)Sponsored by: A Vehicle for ChangeThe Plant Studios' former location in Sausalito (also formerly known as The Record Plant) has hosted such music artists as Bob Marley, Grateful Dead, Van Morrison, Fleetwood Mac, Bonnie Raitt, John Lee Hooker, Kronos Quartet, Santana, Huey Lewis, Journey, Jefferson Starship, Sammy Hagar, Metallica, Tom Waits, Prince, Beyonce, String Cheese Incident, Phil Lesh and Friends, Gov't Mule, Roy Hargrove, Dave Matthews Band and many more too numerous to list. Due to changes in the music industry and values of real estate in Southern Marin, this historic music landmark in the Bay Area is currently at risk of development and demolition. The Artsboretum is a non-profit project committed to supporting music education and independent artists in the Bay Area and beyond. It was founded by a musician/former studio manager and is endorsed by members of our local creative community and former employees of The Plant Studios and The Record Plant, Sausalito. This comprehensive plan to purchase the property, restore the studios and form a certified green music arts incubator within the building, is a viable solution to preserve its rich legacy, stimulate our local economy and provide a significant cultural contribution to our community. View more info on this plan at http://www.artsboretum.org We, the undersigned, support this effort and respectfully request that our community leaders take whatever steps are necessary to prevent developers from removing this icon of our music history from our cultural landscape. We also encourage your assistance to provide the resources necessary to protect this landmark from the profit driven fluctuations of the commercial real estate market once and for all, to give our children and future generations the opportunity make some music history of their own. |
For obvious reasons I want it to be preserved. I was there in 1998 with ledgie BN!! I have pictures from that moment.
I think the place, to be preserved and mantained, should be opened for visits, as a museum, maybe with pictures and memorabilias from legandary rock moments. |
