A tent on stage

I read once that on a tour (maybe it was the Wild Heart tour) there was a tent set up on stage for Stevie to go in between songs. Did anybody see one of her shows that had this? Was it a pretty tent? I wonder if there are any pictures.

It looked sort of like a harem tent I guess. It wasn't that big but she'd duck into it. I remember one show I was at it opened and smoke billowed out.

I would do ANYTHING to have been in that tent with her at some point. I bet some craziness went on there!!! LOL

It wasn't onstage, it was backstage, in the old Fleetwood Mac days. It wasn't like a Boy Scout tent. It was a canvas covering -- it allowed Stevie to get her makeup touched up & to breathe steam between songs without running all the way down into the green room. Why she needed a covering, I don't know. Maybe she had to strip down to the waist for some reason.

When you say "old FM days", which tour or tours?

Thanks

She had the "tent" on the side of the stage during the Rock A Little tour, the tent was on the side of the stage where I was sitting. It was a makeshift dressing room.

OMG this made me lol.

For some reason I picture her coming out holding in a hit from a bong and then just as she exits the tent letting the hit out with a big smile on her face.

Is it wrong that when I first saw the title of this thread, I thought it was referring to her SYW stage outfits?

I'd like it better if it were the brick wall from the I Can't Wait video - she did say that was her favorite part. Every time she changes clothes, she can bust through the wall, and then they can rebuild it for the next change and do it all over again.

But to actually be helpful, I remembered someone posting a photo of her coming out of something resembling a tent at the recent Motor City show, so I went to track it down:

Can't quite tell if it's a tent or just curtains, though.

Well everyone needs a line of coke between songs...

Tent

During the SYW tour both the guys and Stevie had "tents" just off stage. In each was a vanity table with a mirror that had the setlist taped to it. Stevie's tent had a couple of rubbermaid type boxes with what looked like stuffed animals in one. The guys tent had a bowl of bananas and a box of "gas x". Maybe they are leaving the gas x at home this tour and that's why it's being billed as "unleashed"?

I"ve always wondered what her changing "set up" was like back in the day. Now she changes in a tent behind the percussion player to shorten her walk but I did wonder whether she walked all the way back to the dressing room to change in her younger days. Thanks for the info!

It was there during the Wild Heart tour too and at least one concert I was at, it was *on* stage.

The first (& only) time I heard her mention it was on radio in 1980. It was one of those brief Mary Turner OFF THE RECORD thingies. She called it her "Baghdad tent," & she said she used to to breathe steam in between songs, which enabled her to sing a full 2-hour Fleetwood Mac set. She joked about how her pals & she would giggle & talk in the tent, & how Courage, the tour manager, would hush them because the rest of the band could hear the chit-chat onstage.
