Current artists giving Lindsey & FM credit...

One of the trendiest (and IMHO one of the best and most innovative) bands of the moment, Animal Collective, have a big interview with Pitchfork.com up HERE.
In it one of the members gives major kudos to Lindsey and the Rumours lineup of FM:

"Noah, actually, says a lot of my songs remind him of Lindsey Buckingham...I like Fleetwood Mac a lot, in terms of older bands or pop bands, they're one of the greatest. Tusk, Rumors-- the Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, that whole lineup has definitely been an influence on me. I wrote an e-mail to the dudes when I sent a demo of "No More Runnin" to them that I saw it as this beach-side or lagoon-- we talked about lagoons a lot when we were making the record-- and just how I saw it as this guy sitting next to this really shallow lagoon with frogs and other things going around him. Just to get this really lagoony, laid-back, hazy feeling going with it, and sad, too."

I love it that so many current artists and bands are completely unashamedly expressing their admiration for Lindsey and FM. Only a few years back the thought of Fleetwood Mac even being mentioned somewhere as "cool" as pitchfork.com would have been unthinkable... Of course it only means that all the cool kids are going to be getting into FM now - might be more competition for tour tickets!!

thats awsome:nod:, Animal Collective is a really groundbreaking band, in my oppinion, and for them to recognize the genius of Buckingham is great, but also a no brainer to me. Their music is very experimental, yet still retains a folky/pop, yet quirky, sensibility.. much like Tusk:thumbsup:

I almost made this exact thread when I saw that interview! Merrieweather Post Pavilion could well be the album of the year. I hope it's not because if someone manages to beat then... well... wow.

Their album Sung Tongs just screams Tusk at me.

And, of course, I've got my ticket to see them when they play Belfast in March :D Might take a trip down to Dublin as well.
