DID MOTHERHOOD COST CROW A ROLE IN FLEETWOOD MAC?2009-01-07 03:12:02 -

SHERYL CROW's role as a single mum may have cost her the chance to join FLEETWOOD MAC.

The supergroup's main man Mick Fleetwood has spoken out about reports suggesting Crow was considered as Christine McVie's replacement in the band for 2009 tour dates, and admits motherhood may have ruined her chances.
Crow prematurely announced her Mac hopes last year (08), but Fleetwood and his bandmates have since insisted she isn't a part of their plans.

And now Fleetwood says, "Sheryl's an incredible talent, but she's started a family as a single mother and is still promoting her own album.

"Going off into the sunset with Fleetwood Mac for a couple of years just wouldn't have worked."

Oh, marlarkey. Can't they come up with anything else?

I really wish they'd stop the whole Sheryl talk.
They all just end up looking stupid.

that is crazy cause everyone else in fleetwood mac has spouses and children except for Stevie so to say Sheryl can't join fleetwood mac on tour because she is starting a family and that is news to me that she is pregnant and good and congrats to Sheryl Crow on being a mother. But I would have loved to see Sheryl be in fleetwood mac I do miss Christine McVie wish she would consider about regrouping with everyone for one time big tour and would be nice if they all did a whole new cd as well. I am listening to the fleetwood mac catalog all the way from the begining with peter green i do love every part of fleetwood mac i do have to get the time cd which i dont have and reason i didnt get it at first was that stevie was not on it.But will be buying that cd and and few others to my collection. I have been a big fan of fleetwood mac since I was 9 years old back in 1979 and got my first fleetwood mac album thru columbia house records and got to order Tusk my parents asked me if i want to get a record i said yes and ordered Tusk:]

Exactly. The others have SPOUSES who are able to care for the kids when the band is off playing rock star. Sheryl is a single mom, which means the kids would have to be on tour. It's just not a good situation.

BTW, I agree. They just need to shut-up about Sheryl Crow.

The idea of Mick Fleetwood lecturing anyone else about "going off into the sunset with Fleetwood Mac for a couple of years" is a paralyzing laugh.

I wish people would stop asking them about Sheryl Crow. Who cares! I'm just so glad she's not part of the band.

As for this new excuse, it's interesting it comes from Stevie and Mick who Lindsey had previously id'd as the two who were particularly upset about Sheryl spilling the beans. So I think they're just trying to be nice to Sheryl -- and that's fine. Say all the nicest things about her you want, Stevie and Mick; just do not let her in the band! :wavey:

Just think, at least it takes up some time between the typical questions "What was it like recording Rumours and breaking up at the same time?" and "Do you (Stevie or Lindsey) and (opposite of who the previous "you" refers to) get along now? Is it still weird!?"

They could always combine the two.

"Does Sheryl think you two get along now, or does she think it's weird?! What was it like for Sheryl when you were recording Rumours and breaking up at the same time? Do you think it had an impact on her shag haircut? Further, do you think your relationship now and the closure you may or may not have reached during the Say You Will tour has an impact on her future hairstyle decisions? Discuss."

LOL. That's the real reason she's not being asked to join...she couldn't really contribute to the Rumours discussion. They tried it and when she said, "I was SO devastated when John and Christine and Stevie and Lindsey broke up and I had to compartmentalize my feelings while I was playing hopscotch." Something just didn't ring true. So, Stevie told her - "Look Sheryl, you just need to stay on the road with your own band now that you're a mother. You can't be in Fleetwood Mac and be a mother. Other bands can do it and other women in rock and roll may can do it but not this band. This is the man-hating, woman-hating band and we can't have no mamas and no kids running around here. Sorry." So Sheryl picked up her baby's toys and went back to Nashville. It's all good though. They call her on mother's day...

Seriously, every time I think of Sheryl joining the band, my mind immediately snaps back to her speech when she presented them at the Hall of Fame induction, and her stilted rambling about her "Stevie Nicks shag haircut" when she was 14 - just think, we could've had that every night on a tour...

Actually, though Sheryl did get questions like this when she was working with Stevie and when I heard her telling the media that based on when it was written she, Sheryl, would say If You Ever Did Believe was about Mick, I considered self-mutilation.

Huh. Wasn't most of that song written before Mick was even around? I might be wrong, but I am assuming that's why you were considering self-mutilation.

Well, actually it may have been written in 1978, but why would Sheryl offer an opinion one way or another? Why not just refer the question to Stevie? I think I considered self-mutilation because exposure to Sheryl caused me to really wonder if the first cut is the deepest.

Ohhhhh, I gotcha. Yeah, that's not her job to answer that. I don't like Sheryl at all, but I really like "If You Ever Did Believe" itself, so I have to try to force myself to ignore the fact that she's there.

I just can't imagine what she could positively add to the band. It would change the dynamic too much, and her style just isn't right, so I'm glad this didn't happen.
