Madison Square Garden - 3-19-08

I bought my ticket for the MSG show today. Just thought it would be fun to start a thread for those going to MSG. I tried to find a good seat on Ticketmaster, but had no luck, so I went the VIP route. So nobody gets Christmas presents this year. Anyway, I'm sure it will be worth it!

So... who else will be at MSG?

What row did you get?

GavinBrown 12-15-2008 11:47 AM

I had my rich uncle use his black AMEX card, and he told them to get best available seats closest to the stage, with priority being floor on the left side....after a few days the concierge called us back and said we got 4 seats13th row on the left side of the floor...im excited! I may go see them in another city though as well, and wait for day of to see what tix pop up!

You don't find out 'til the day of, but, supposedly, it's in the first 20 rows.

So it looks like i'll be somewhere near u, gavinbrown. I, also, hope to see them at the other two nyc-area shows, but I'll also wait til closer to the shows and see what tix I can score.

My standard approach for any NY-area FM or solo shows is to have one sure thing in-hand, and try my luck at everything else. So today I bought somewhat middling-mediocre seats at the IZOD Center in the Meadowlands (23rd row)- my sure thing. I am going to play the last-minute odds game for everything else- Nassau, MSG, Mohegan. Surely they will dump the unsold VIP seats close to show date. So if good seats don't show up for the other shows (highly unlikely!), at least I will be able to see them once. And I'm not going to discount the possibility of a second run of sheds this summer- Jones Beach, PNC, Montage, Camden... and a Borgata date is inevitable as well. I'm just wondering whether a string of Eagles-Fleetwood Mac stadium dates is being considered!

That's awesome that you'll be there! Would be cool to meet such a mac fan legend.

QUESTION TO EVERYBODY: I hear tale that there is a 4/1 MSG show???? Is that true?

Good lord! I'm no legend. I'm just David, but it will be a pleasure meeting you too. I'm coming in from Albany the day of the show at about 2:00 P.M, then for dinner before the show I'm going to a famous steak resturant called Peter Luger in Brooklyn.

I'm planning on going to the MSG show, but I'm going to play the waiting game with regard to tickets.

Damn, I need a rich uncle with a Black card. ;)

I am trying to work out a way to go to this show. I guess if I do go, I'll get my tickets the day of. The worst that could happen would be crappy seats.

I bought tickets to this on Friday. We went with the second tier price since I'm bring my brother and good friend and neither of them (nor I, really) wanted to spend the top price unless it meant front few rows. So we got the 312 section, which is Stevie's side and from the MSG seat viewer thingy looks nice. I tend to like being to more on the side and higher up than center and all the way back. Should have a good view of John too, which excites me! Hoping we'll be able to see the screens too, if there are any, but may be too far to the side.

In NYC?
Generally, our weather is really, really unpredictable. I've seen it snow in April (granted, not recently, but it's possible). And, the weather is just plain erratic till...mid-June, really (although spring CAN be nice. Or not).

I've seen some really bad snowstorms in March. Or, we could have absolutely nothing all winter long.

And it is, generally, cold. As I mentioned before, for the FM Today show appearance, a couple of days before, it was either near 90 or 90 (in April). They day they showed up, it was in the 30s.

They performed at the Jones Beach theater early June for SYW. It was SO cold that the vendors in Manhattan actually pulled out their carts and were roasting chestnuts on the street. I remember going to the train to Long Island and honestly thinking I was in the Twilight Zone. June, in NY, I'm in a winter jacket and chestnuts are roasting on the open fire...

Same thing for Atlantic City's SYW. May and it was freezing cold (and I had a friend from the south visiting and told her to bring a "light jacket."). But, that was indoors. Jones Beach is outdoors and by the water. Now, my advice for travellers is: Bring thermal undies!
