A Very Cool Song That I Discovered: "Africa" by: Toto

So I was with my friend riding back to Louisville for our long weekend, and this song came on. The second it started, I started really digging it. The 80's feel is awesome, and it is very powerful. I think it is excellent.'

Here is a youtube link for it:

Anyway, yeah, this is a great song, and I really like it. Anyone else ever heard it?

Much Love

It's Toto's best song, reaching #1 on Billboard Singles Charts back in the day.

Toto's lead guitarist Steve Lukather played on The Wild Heart. I believe he played guitar on Stand Back.

Africa is very nostalgic for me. A number one hit in Feb. '83, it was a constant presence on MTV during the network's infancy. The video was in heavy rotation with Hold Me and Gypsy.

This is right-on. But I never like this song - always changed the channel!

I like it but I do not think it's Toto's best song. "Hold the Line" is my all-time favorite song.

Wasn't music great from 1980-1986. Rest of the 80's wasn't as good.

Wow, I def remember this song. I thought they were pretty cool, they were on the radio all the time when I was younger. I think the chorus is the best part.

Ethan, wait until you hear the band Asia or even Don't Stop Believin' by Journey. You are gonna faint from excitement!

Welcome to 1983. Thanks for the totally tubular song.

Wild dogs do cry out in the night in Africa. I love this song. A local band covers it and they do a great job, it always gets an awesome response. Love that you "discovered" this song. People, easy on the kid, how is he supposed to know this song?
