Here's some bad news for Partridge Family fans: LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "The Partridge Family" is headed for a return to the small screen. NBC has picked up a contemporary single-camera take on the classic ABC sitcom.

The show's writer, Jeff Rake, is a fan of the 1970s series who plans to "turn the premise on its head."

"In the original, the kids actually recruited their mom to front the band, which I can't see happening in any family on this planet," he said.

"The new version will reflect what seems to me to be the more realistic family band scenario these days: a struggling, sort of well-meaning mom pimping her kids in order to create a wholesome-slash-sexy cash cow."

Yeah, that's not gonna suck...

As I said before, and will KEEP saying, Hollywood is OUT of ideas.

Has been for years and will keep running the fountain dry until the motor burns out.

VH1 tried this exact same thing a few years ago (http://www.vh1.com/shows/dyn/in_sear...y/series.jhtml), and it failed miserably.

Completely bizarre that they'd choose this property/concept to dig up once again, considering the recent failure. I suppose the allure of the success of Hannah Montana/Jonas Brothers is too much to ignore in their quest to mine for potential Tiger Beat headliners/$$$.

YES,YES,and yes. Vh1 already tried this. and there are already robo peeps bieng controlled and pimped out by their parents. Britney spears and her sis, Linsey lohan and her sis, Jessica Simpson and her sis, Myley Cirus, Jonas Brothers, all fall into that stage parent thing. scary. and it needs to stop.

Unless they get songs as good as "Echo Valley 2-6809," "Summer Days," "Morning Rider on the Road," "I Can Feel Your Heart Beat," "I'm Here, You're Here," & "Bandala," the entire proposed enterprise will self-destruct.
