Favorite Stevie lyrics

I am new here so don't smack me around if this question has been asked:xoxo:

I am working on a scrap book of stevie and I would love to know what some of your favorite lyrics from her are and why?

Any other things that might help me make a kick ass scrap book would be appreciated. I have been lurking for sometime and I love this board.

I last saw Stevie in Boston On June 22 and I can't even explain how spellbound I was. I was the closest I have ever been to her, 9th row and my husband met Many Moore who opened up for her, I have photo's, can I share them here?

Anyway I would love to know this question. Mine has to be Mistaken Love, The entire song is just so moving " I never did love easily but I easily loved you"
man she is just awesome. I have to admit that I find her demos amazing and have always wondered why she never released these songs, Like OOh Baby, these are amazing and very intense love songs I feel.
Thanks for helping:);)

Landslide

"Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love? Can the child within my heart rise above? Can I sail through the changing ocean tides? Can I handle the seasons of my life? I don't know. Well I've been afraid of changing because I built my life around you. But time makes you bolder, children get older, I'm getting older too."

It's only me who wants to wrap around your dreams
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?
Dreams of loneliness
Like a heartbeat drives you mad
In the stillness of remembering what you had
And what you lost

These are my favorite lines because they're quietly sexy, they portend maturity, they paint an image & create a sound, & they employ a skillful economy of means.

"Are you happy? Yes, I am...
Do I know you love me now? Yes, I do...
Do I know you cannot stay? I know, all about love...
All about love..."

I love this because it seems so sad and so honest. She's accepting that someone has to leave, and says that she knows 'all about love' (in other words, how love never seems to work out).

Gee, hope that doesn't happen to me!

All of Angel. Pretty much all of Sorcerer. From tired, thirsty and wild eyed to the snow dream. And in between . . .

There's a thread called sexy photos, but I think Come over, let me put you on ice is a very sexy lyric.

You prefer to be a little bit in and out of love with me . . .You prefer to be just a little bit in and out of agony.

Michele

I also love this:

"You can sit outside his door and wait...
Well, you can dedicate your pain to him..."

Who hasn't ever sat outside someone's door and waited? Oh wait, that's stalking..

I hope you find a love, your own designs of love...

Another gem: I've shaken your faith in me. No, you've shaken my faith in everything else.

Love is a word,
Some entertain it.
If you find it.
You have won the game.

and

You fell in love
When I was only ten
The years pass by
Much has gone by since then
I bite my lip
Can you send me away?
You touch I have no choice
I have to stay

Too trusting, yes, but then women usually are
***
I wouldn't trade you for jade or for diamonds
***
And it all comes down to you,
well you know that it does
Lightning strikes maybe once, maybe twice
Oh, and it lights up the night
And you see your gypsy...
I still see your bright eyes

***
I know you know
Watching you go
Is like dying, is like dying

***
Is love so fragile
and the heart so hollow?

***
Come to me now and I'll never know another
You are song for me and melody
Ingrained in my soul
Sing, sing your song
For my ears they only hear you
If I never knew the likes of you
Where would I be
Without you?

So hard...

This one had me thinking for a while. I have to say first off, Stevie is a poet like no other, the words and rymes that she creates are beautiful and filled with high meaning, and I hold them very near and dear to my heart... I could never-ever really narrow it down to one song, one lyric, one line, or one note!!! Never!!! Being that I am an open gay male, I can really relate to Stevie with her love/loss situations in her songs (as Iam sure everyone can). When you get involved with a "straight man" you endure some pain, even more so when the relationship falls apart, because it can never work out... Stevie always shines through in the end, no matter how painful or however long it takes her, she comes back with a vengence, and shows us that it is possible... So, a favorite Stevie lyric of mine is as follows...

"I knew him another way, I knew him another day...
In some ways he'd forgotten me, In many ways he got to me...
I turned aways so he couldn't see, I turned away it could never be...
I never thought he would walk away, but I lost him again yesterday...."

Fire on fire...rain on my face
Fever goes higher...what can you do
Wild in the darkest places of your mind
That's where I needed you
Where I needed you most

How the faces of love have changed, turning the pages
And I have changed
Oh, but you...you remain ageless
I turned around
And the water was closing all around
Like a glove
Like the love that had finally, finally found me

I haven't felt this way I feel
Since many a year ago
But in those years and the lifetimes past
I did not deal with the road
And I did not deal with you I know
Though the love has always been
So I search to find an answer there
So I can truly win

Well...have you come to see
That my face is not seen
Ooo...outside my frost covered windows
Oh and just how deep...
Do you hold that dream
In your hands each night

Ugh, most of my faves have been said.
I love the chorus to 'Affairs of the Heart'.

"You're not like other people, you do what you want to". maybe not the words themsleves, but how she sings them.

"I'm old enough to love you from afar" :xoxo:

"I still see you're bright eyes, and it all comes down to you"

"Something in my heart died last night, just one more chip off an already broken heart"

"Let the walls burn down, set your secrets free"/"You can set you're secrets free, baby" [I know she didn't write them, but whatever]

"There are too many flowers to cut down for the love I had for your life"

"Rulers make bad lovers, you better put your kingdom up for sale"

"I still look up when you walk in the room, I've the same wide eyes, now they tell stories"

"I have loved many women, I have many times run away"

And soo many more I could think of :)
