iTunes 8
I'm afraid to upgrade once more. I sort of had to the last time since I had to get a new computer in January & I had to get the latest version of iTunes. So I get on the iTunes discussion boards & people are having problems once they upgrade to 8; crashing, can't play their music, etc. So have any Ledgies upgraded, & have you had any problems.
Lee  |
I upgraded and haven't had any problems so far. Knock on wood! The Genius feature is really fun. The playlists it creates are pretty impressive.
If you've had problems upgrading before I would wait it out, however. |
I HATE iTunes 8.
I'm so fcking pissed at myself for upgrading. SURE the Genius feature is cool. But unless I am completely missing something, I can't just go listen to all my songs in the 'Music' list thingy. It only plays 1 album at a time. Even if NOTHING is highlited, it plays the first album only. But if you like listening to music at random. Don't upgrade. I wish I hadn't but it forced me to, as I wanted free tv shows...ugh. lol. |

OMG Richard, thanks so much :)
I'll fix that right away. Besides that I like iTunes 8...but now that that problem is fixed, I'll probably love it even more! [eh I should be doing my psych reading...oh well...] |

If you like looking at the cover art, COVER FLOW, will work like LIST mode. Just not the album cover view. Enjoy the rest of your week. |
What is this genius feature?? I’m intrigued.
I tend to hold off upgrading each time just to see which bugs they find. Seems the same has happened again. I’ll be backing up my PC this weekend and then afterwards will download the new settings. |
What Is Genius
Genius is a fantastic new way to discover music with iTunes. Genius makes playlists from songs in your library that go great together — with just one click. Genius also includes Genius sidebar, which recommends music from the iTunes Store that you don’t already have. Sending Information About Your iTunes Library to Apple Genius is able to make playlists and give you great recommendations by periodically sending information about your iTunes library to Apple. This information will only be sent to Apple if you choose to turn on Genius. The information sent to Apple includes details about the media in your iTunes library such as track names, play counts, and ratings. This information will be stored with an anonymous Genius ID and not linked to your iTunes Account. When using the iTunes Store or Genius sidebar, Apple will also use your purchase history to give you better recommendations. The information about your library will be anonymously combined with information provided by other Genius users. Apple will use this combined knowledge to improve Genius playlists and recommendations for everyone. If you would like to use Genius for more than one library, you must turn on Genius from each. To turn off Genius, select Turn Off Genius from the Store menu. Once you turn off Genius, iTunes will no longer send information about your iTunes library to Apple. If you used Genius for more than one library, you must turn off Genius from each library. |
So it's like Pandora? How well does it work compared to Pandora (which is awesome)?

Pandora is also awesome and is similar, but it allows you to hear songs you may not have. I use both. And the Pandora app on the iPhone is also wonderful. |
