The very first Stevie or FM webpage?

This just occurred to me, because I went online only around 1994 and can't remember which website I might have found first. I spent most of that year or so on the AOL boards, which I guess doesn't count.

Anyone want to take a crack at what might be the earliest Stevie or FM boards that existed? And, do they still exist? Is Nicks Fix one of them?

It's ironic that you brought this up. A few weeks ago I was browsing through one of my old Stevie scrapbooks and found many pages of the Nicks Fix that I printed out many years ago when I first discovered the internet. I didn't have a computer, so I would go online at my boyfriend's house and print all the Stevie stuff I could find. He would get mad at me because I was using up all his toner. Anyway, the websites in the early 90's had very few graphics or photos...they were very text intensive. The Nicks Fix was the first one I remember, but I think Bill Gamelson had some sort of Wild Heart fanlist or something way back then.

I used to get all my Stevie news through other fans, interviews, magazines and a couple of the fanzines that existed back in the old days!

That's funny, cause when I first went online...and this was at work.. probably in 96, I remember printing off everything related to SN or FM that I could find... as if it was going to go away or something.... I can't even recall what things looked like online, but yeah I just remember TEXT!

:laugh:I'm right behind you Alicia, I found the Nicksfix in '95. One thing that's nice about the links page is that it is in chronological order so the oldest websites are on top. most are defunct now but my favorite was the Queen of Rock and Roll, it had some great pics...I remember how proud I was when my own little page got put on the list!!!

of course, the Ledge was the old fashioned messageboard and I lurked for a long time like years!!!

I discovered the nicksfix thx 2 a friend in 1996. Two other sites I really miss a lot are burnish.net and sararhiannon. There's a third one whose name escapes me now but they were excellent too.

yes, I loved sararhiannon, when in need a demo lyric, her site had them all...and it was beautifully done...it's a shame she didn't leave it up on a free site somewhere to travel into forever...

oh and I loved burnish too, one of my favorite Stevie avatars is stuck there and on my old site as well (don't remember my passwords!! lol) so I can't access either and I've been too lazy to pull it off my old hard drive...

I discovered the Nicks Fix, I think somewhere around the TISL tour. At one of the shows I met a girl who was there with Nancy, the owner of buckinghamnicks.net. I had no idea that there were fan forums for Stevie or FM. I lurked on The Ledge for years too. :o

The Nicks Fix goes back quite a ways, but I don't know which appeared first -- the Fix or the Penguin. They used to both moderate the #nicksfix IRC channel every Sunday afternoon, back before the reunion. I think that IRC channel predated the very first Ledge because I remember Marty asking us in IRC to participate in his new Web forum, The Ledge.

The Chain Gang, created by Jeff Kenney, predates both the Nicks Fix & the Penguin, I think. There used to be forums called bulletin boards, or BBSs, & there was a Wild Heart BBS in the early 1990s (someone mentioned that Swill Gamelson started it, which I didn't know).

Steve Macdougall had an old site, too -- titled something like World Turning. Steve, what year did you create that? Wasn't it when the TIME album was new or soon coming out?

The alt.music.fleetwood-mac group on Usenet was started by Joe Admire in 1993 or 1994. The rec.music.artists.stevie-nicks group got started about four years after that. Of course, by that time there were dozens of Stevie Nicks Web sites up.

Technically, that would probably be the first. I do remember hanging out here on The Ledge back when it was the old "www" script message board. IIRC it was even that way during "The Dance" days as late as 1997. I even did a few little graphics for Marty back then.

The Penguin has come a long way, baby.

I wish I could remember the names of all the regs from that hangout, but too many years have passed & Google hasn't archived everything. But there was Chris Small (from Davis) & Nepotist (a musician from Toronto) & of course smacdoug (who is still here) & Kevin (who played with the Trojans at the Fleetwood Mac 1997 Burbank shoot) & Rhi-Rhi (whom I later met in person & formed a tribbie band with) & I believe Marty popped in periodically, &c.

I do believe I recognize your screen name, Jamie. :wavey:

It has, indeed. A lot of years & a lot of water under a bunch of different bridges ... & sadly several deaths, too.

I wish ledgies wanted to real-time chat again in some fashion on a regular basis, the way so many of them initially "met." Is anyone interested in weekly, scheduled real-time chats? The more people in on it, the more fun it actually is.

Great, Jannie! How can we do this? In the olden days, we "met" every Sunday afternoon at 4 Pacific, & we used IRC. Are there newer technologies & tools that can be used? Maybe there's a group chat feature in Instant Messaging, or a JavaScript tool in XML.

I love it, VivFox, that you often have a pic accompanying your posts!
