Desert Angel

I consider "Desert Angel" Stevie's one unassailable masterpiece, her grandest summing up of the ineffable crystal vision. It is her Yeatsian "widening gyre," her uncanniest misprision yet of all visions of Hell (compare her "great huge beast" with the "rough beast" of "The Second Coming"), & it ranks with the greatest of them. Tolstoy, Kafka,
Dante, de Mautrillard -- they're all here, & inseparable.

I agree!...I think...

LOL yes I LOVE Desert Angel...my favorite part is the end when she yells - operation desert STORM! :)

The "great huge beast" she sings about is my precious Camelback Mountain in Phoenix, Arizona. If you live there or someone you know does, ask them to send you a postcard. It really does resemble a camel. I could see a head, complete with eyes, nose and mouth defined in rocks. Along with neck and hump but sadly no tail.:p
I agree it's one of her masterpieces. This would sound so good live.

I LOOOVE this song!!! I wish she had done more with the song..maybe perform it live or something. She has SO many awesome songs that people never heard before.

I think the same chords are used for "If You Were My Love."

I've always really loved this song. I enjoy the Asian flare, and the lyrics are so very powerful. It is a classic song.

I do love this little gem buried at the end of Timespace...it sounds so corny and overyly dramatic at first but sooner or later, you can't get away from that bridge..."where is my father, where has he gone? where is my husband and where is my son?"

and the song keeps standing the test of time...personally I like the fact that this is a true Stevie fan song, only us and the armed forces know this one is special..:)

It's a moody little song. I dig it.

It's a screen cap from the Melbourne 2006 DVD. At that moment, she's singing "and yet, they were priests of nothing."
