blue denim

Alright, I hadn't heard this song in about 12 years when I came across the cd last night. I played Blue Denim and chills went down my spine. It's so amazing!

I remember first getting Street Angel when it came out and focusing on how tired, heavy, and old Stevie looked...I was not above the common reaction. But this reaction colored my perception of how great that opening song really is. Man does she belt on it! Her performance is so committed and knowing: she seems to know what to do with her voice and has it under control in a way that was sometimes lacking in the early solo albums.

I rocked out to it for about 30 minutes last night....Just felt like sharing.

Though I recognize the faults of it, I like much of Street Angel. I also think the live shows were fab. Google them - esp. Talk To Me!

I like 'Blue Denim' very much. When I bought the album and heard it as the lead-off, I was very pleased with it and considered it a vast improvement over the OSOTM and BTM tracks. I still like the song. SA has some ups and downs. But I would say I like about 60% of it, compared to the 5% that I like from OSOTM and the 95-99% I like from RAL and Bella Donna.

THe single mix version is even better. Subtle, but totally noticeable. Love it!:D:wavey:

I agree with you on this. I know many Stevie fans consider OSOTM a crowning achievement, I never could get into that record. It was at that point I sort of stopped listening to Stevie for a few years. Though my interest was rekindled with Street Angel, ironically her lowest selling solo effort.

Overall I think OSOTM was a much better album but I agree that Blue Denim is a great single and kind of a lost one ..I think it and Rooms On Fire are her two best singles of the last 20 years.

My "Blue Denim" Expierence

The song was written about Lindsey. He's the "Bright Eyes". She said she had always been facinated by his blue eyes. I sang this song at karaoke one time at the bar that I used to work at, and I was singing it to someone who I had a major fling with, and I still find him irresistable to this day. He had beautiful blue eyes....and ohhh, how they shined. He was beautiful. So I sang this song to him without him even knowing it. I never told anyone about it until just now. Every word everything that was sung in that song reminded me of him. "Understanding me, understanding you....It's not an easy thing to do..." "I will never for get the last time I saw you....Like a photograph so rare...like a painting"

"Wonder if I'll ever see him again..." well I tried to call him this weekend to come and hang out with me and my friends, but he sounded grouchy on the phone. Last I heard he had a girlfriend. I met one of them one time before, but I haven't seen him since Feb. this year. There are several other Stevie songs that remind me sooooo much of Sean...Violet and Blue, Blue Denim, Stop Draggin' My Heart Around, Long Distance Winner, Paper Doll, Dreams, Thrown Down.....I can go on and on. We were never an item. I was just someone who was inlove with someone who didn't love me back. He was just a fling, and we remained friends, but I had to stay away from him because he makes me go crazy. There is a little Stevie in all of us.....

I know what you mean. I once sang the song No Questions Asked to my boyfriend and he smiled at me knowing those lyrics were a lot like our relationship together.

I can't get into that album. I want to remix it with some George Clinton.

When she was promoting this single she sounded great too. I really liked the Letterman performance. I was shocked though at how pasty pale her skin was and the hair was not good or the weight.

The dj in Boston that was playing the single kept making fun of her weight saying that at the buffet she would bring her chair right up to the buffet table instead of bringing the food back to her table.

I liked Stevie on Letterman/Leno that year. I thought she was so petite, so tiny. She was like a little ballerina dancing across the stages of the world.

I actually love street angel cd and caught two of the first shows opening night in mansfield, Mass and Jones beach second night amazing shows she sounded amazing on this tour too great band too I still though stevie looked fabulous despite her putting on weight I will take Stevie any way and shape i can get her i love her no matter what thru her highs and lows she still put on amazing show and looked fabulous too. It's like Todd Stephens who directed and wrote Gypsy83 about the night of 1,000 stevie's street angel tour 1994 at jones beach was Todd's first time seeing stevie and he was truely amazed at her performance and stage presence I have read thats when he got hooked on stevie and did two movies one of them using the title Edge of Seventeen which is another good movie as well. yes Street Angel was not a commercial success I find it especially now especially that your an older female performer its very difficult to get the proper promotion you need to sell alot of cd's today.

Stevie needs more confidence in playing more of her newer material she truely can sing the phone book and we all would love it. I love anything and everything stevie does I am probably not her best critic but to me she is a true artist and that loves her fans very much and it shows with every performance she puts on whether high or sober I have seen her in both conditions and still truely an amazing woman and inspiration to all.:wavey:
