Performance Rights Bill
The proposed legislation to pay performers royalties when songs are played on the radio has been in the news a lot lately. They get paid in other countries, but in the U. S., only the songwriter gets paid, not the performer.
If this passes, I guess it would somewhat level the playing field in FM. Stevie has talked about how Mick and John have to tour because they aren't songwriters and don't have royalties trickling in. Now, they could. Of course, it still wouldn't be as much as the songwriters get, but maybe enough to pay a few bills. Buy Mick some new hand made red shoes. Michele |
