Rockin' at 60: Stevie Nicks performs tonight in St. Louis
BY SCOTT KIEFER
Special to the News-Democrat
Highlights:
After that, Nicks will sign on for the all-original Fleetwood Mac tour.

"Yes, we are going to do it, at least once more," said Nicks. "All of us except Christy (Christine McVie). She is just so 'over' that whole thing. She has done it, again and again, she just doesn't want to do the touring anymore."

Nicks stated that the group will start working on material and recording probably in October, and finish an album.

"We should be getting into tour rehearsals in January or February, and get out on the road in the spring of next year."

Asked about the rumors surrounding the replacement of McVie by Sheryl Crow, Nicks said it would not be happening.

So, they are going to record an album from October to January? Yeah, right. Sounds like 1975 again.

But I don't even care. I don't care if it's not a complete album and just has a couple of new tunes. I will take whatever I can get. I'm very happy with them. They've made my year.

hmmm...seems stevie's magical timelines are coming into play.

She is currently working on writing the story for the production of a movie based on the hit Fleetwood Mac single of 1976, "Rhiannon."

"I have been working on this for quite some time," said Nicks. "It's really been a work in progress for 30 years. This is it, though. As soon as this tour is finished, I'm off to a secluded place in Europe (she didn't disclose where) to finish the writing, and do some tweaking on the finished product. After that, we are meeting with people like HBO or Showtime to hopefully do a mini-series type of movie. It is such a wonderful story, and there is so much more to be told about Rhiannon."

After that, Nicks will sign on for the all-original Fleetwood Mac tour.

Well, it would be great if this happens, I would DIE. But if it doesn't, I won't be terribly surprised~

Chrislit18 06-26-2008 10:25 AM

Of course she'll put it on HBO, since I don't get HBO :(

But anyways, hopefully what she says is true. Some new songs would be great! :)

Has anyone ever, ever, ever heard Stevie call Chris "Christy?" Seriously.

No. Maybe the interviewer misheard her.

Misheard, misquoted, whatever. It's so frustrating to me, I don't know why.

There will be no damned "finished product" on that damned Rhiannon crap. It will not be on HBO; it will not materialize in that tiny time frame. I am frustrated by her nonsensical claims. You are not going to a "secluded place" if you are taking FOUR GIRLFRIENDS with you, as she said she would be in Q magazine. But then, the plan was to go to Mexico, not Europe. And this all follows the time she went to Hawaii a few years ago to work on the project. With friends in tow, of course. I am totally sure they were living a hermetic and disciplined life in order to get that story written. They just go to exotic paradise locations because, um, cuz foreign hotels have better laptop connections for writing screenplays, and the Earth's magnetic field is too strong over America and it interferes with the electronic workings of her Rhiannon demos. NOT!!

Well, I think it's funny because there had been a post or 2 here where someone called her "Christy" (which I don't think Christine would invite) and older fans responded and said her name was not "Christy" and then that appellation turns up in print. So, I giggled because the timing was propitious.

Generally though, whenever they misquote and you can catch it, it just calls into question everything else in the article for me that I can't catch. They're doing a job and writing a piece that gets carried on the wires and receives national -- or international -- exposure. They do this for a living. Yet they do it pretty sloppily. And that's what I find irksome.

Also, to the extent that they were trying to make the conversation with Stevie sound more confidential and candid than it actually was as she dished about her friends Mike, Johnny, Christy and Bucky, it's kind of phony.

Guess it's just one of the bonuses of tour season, these botched news items. If I went to a concert and I ran back and wrote about it and I said Stevie sang Thunder Only Happens When It's Raining, well I'm just a casual fan and I should be forgiven, because I wasn't sitting there taking notes or doing research on Stevie Nicks. I was having a good time. BUT if I was a reporter and I do it, yes it's a minor error, but it shows a carelessness about my job and calls my reliability into question overall.

You know what? I caught that too, about the "Europe" thing.. as she mentioned, and I do know for a fact she's going to Mexico.. not Europe, until maybe later?- Also, remember- Stevie "doesn't do" computers.. LOL

Fleetwood Mac could go in a cut a nearly live organic album in a few weeks the way Tom Petty and crew did with Mudcrutch this year and the results are stellar..that is the only way I could see a new album being completed in the specified time frame.

Yeah, I don't think Stevie Nicks has yet decided whether this project is going to be a feature film, a TV film, an album, a children's book with art, a book of poetry, a play, an audiobook, or a painting hanging at MoMA.

Maybe it'll be a new video game, like Myst!
