I think everyone "decided" that this was a makeup session for a Rolling Stone photoshoot with Annie Leibovitz in New York in fall 1981. The photos ran in early 1982 for the "Out There With Stevie Nicks" story. The music is a Buckingham instrumental that matured into "Can't Go Back" on Mirage.

I wish Stevie would have recorded it like this on the album. I think it sounds better backed with the "Buckingham instrumental" than the finished version of the song.

The Wild Heat...........my favorite album. :)

The Out There With Stevie Nicks was actually a September 1981 issue.

I remember in an interview at that time Stevie said when she played The Wild Heart on piano for Tom Petty he told her that was her "masterpiece."
