What song was Howard trying to remember?

I always knew that Howard Stern was a Stevie/FM fan, but it seems like his whole posse is into them as well. Imagine my surprise to hear Howard doing an extended riff on Stevie on his March 25 show on Sirius Satellite Radio!

So what song do you think Howard was trying to remember?

I know! When Robin said NEC, I was like, where the hell did that come from??

I don't think it's "Gold and Braid" because it wasn't really played on the radio. My theory is that he was referring to "Sleeping Angel," which Howard played every morning on DC 101 when it first came out. So instead of "golden chain," I think he was really thinking of "soft, silver chain."

Did you listen to Sour Shoes singing "Sara?"

Seriously! She must have been looking Stevie's solo career up on Amazon or something.

Hm, that also is a good guess! Is there anyway you can send it to him or the show?

And no -- I stopped listening as soon as they went on to Corine Baley Rae.

I think he was thinking of "Silver Threads and Golden Needles" which was recorded by Linda Ronstadt. He has many times mentioned Stevie and Linda in the same breath so I'm guessing he got them confused.
