do you have iTunes? I have that song on a radio CD single...so it's superb quality. I can put it up here for you, but it would be in that stupid iTunes format...not sure how to convert it from CD to mp3...

Sanne2 03-03-2008 07:19 AM

I thought it was really stupid they didn't include this on The Dance cd.

Remy 03-03-2008 07:25 AM

Thanks for the replies! No, i dont have iTunes, sadly... maybe someone could help w/ converting?

Actually the entire concert did get released on CD. However the "The Dance" CD didn't include the entire concert. The songs that didn't make the album were all released as b-sides to various singles from the album.

I too have wondered why they did that. That song, along with SS and Rhiannon are the highlights of that show, so why it never made it to the CD, who knows. I know I was disappointed when it came out that GDW was not on it.
I think Temporary One could have been taken off, but that is JMHO.

Uhm, that was one of the new songs. It would be one of the last songs considered to be left off.

SandyMac 03-03-2008 07:10 PM

Eh, I guess you are right, but I just don't care for that song. (Temp. One I mean)
I don't know if it was just a space issue or what, but I still think there could be another song left off instead of GDW.

Yes, thanks. This whole GDW thing is a real mystery to me. The band seems to have such a bias against it. I still do not have any FM live performances of that song...not even one (the above will be my first, but it's from recent years...I know she did it for her solo concerts, but no Mac versions seem to exist), and I would really like to have a good live version from the Rumours, Tusk, or Mirage era, but it doesn't seem to exist. I don't get it. And I haven't got one single demo of it either. So, I'm just wondered why this is such an elusive song. Does anyone know? And if anyone has any good quality demos or lives, I would highly appreciate it if you could post them. I also love the Bob Welch & Friends Live Roxy version. Does anyone have that? Anything? Thanks! :)

There are a handful of FM versions of GDW from the Rumours tour, I believe. I downloaded one of the shows up for grabs over at on the Rumours forum, Philly 1977, Stevie does this really high-pitched wail at the end of the song, pretty crazy. I can't figure out how to only upload the song from the zip file, but if you go back a few months on the Rumours forum, there's a whole thread of live shows and I'm willing to bet GDW shows up on a few of them!

Here is the thread with the Rumours tour shows! http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=33701

As for The Dance, what single did Songbird appear on? I know the Silver Springs sing I have has Go Insane, Over My Head and GDW but that is all I can account for.

i agree. The Dance version is probably the best version I've ever heard...other than the Rumours one.
