What's your 'signature' dish?

I don't have one, really. But lots of people do; you know, that one dish that you just know you make really well. Your family and friends love it when you make it, you have the preperation of it 'down pat' and you enjoy making it as much as everyone enjoys eating it!

Sweet, or savory. Whichever is your specialty. What's your signature dish?
(and of course, please share your recipes if they're not too secret)

Baked Squash:

It is SO easy and I'm required to bring it to every holiday dinner:

3 lb yellow summer squash
1/2 c. chopped onions
1/2 c. bread crumbs
2 eggs
1/2 stick butter
1 T sugar
1 t salt
1/2 t black pepper

Wash and cut up squash. Boil until tender, drain thoroughly then mash. Add all ingredients except 1/2 of butter to squash. Melt the remaining butter. Pour mixture into baking dish, then spread melted butter over the top and sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Bake at 375 for approximately 1/2 hour.

I'm also quite famous for my spaghetti sauce, but I couldn't post the recipe because then I would have to kill you.

Hmm, summer squashes, they have white flesh like a cucumber, right? Not deep yellow like a butternut or winter squash? This sounds really tasty and comforting. Do the squashes put out a lot of water? Do they need to be drained?

I use the regular yellow squash (or is *that* summer squash?) now that you mention it. I haven't tried the large butternut squash with this recipe. No water and no draining. I also sprinkle a little cheese on top. It is SO good.

On my husbands side of the family, I'm required to bring mashed potatoe dish.
Boil your potatoes, when done, add 2 pkgs. cream cheese, 2 cups sour cream and a stick of butter. Mix it all together, put in pan, drizzle a lilttle more butter over top. Bake 40 minutes at 350 covered. Take foil off and bake another 20 minutes. Add shredded cheese towards the end. They are really good, but I'm sick to death of making them.

My sister makes me bring apple dumplings to her dinners.

They really are. I told them at Christmas to enjoy, cuz that was gonna be it for awhile. I was sick of making them and figured they were sick of eating them, they was having none of that. I'll be making them til I die, I'm afraid.:D

I just gained two pounds reading that recipe. I'm mostly of Norwegian descent, and we love white creamy cheesy foods, preferably if they involve potatoes. This recipe is a keeper..

it's the easiest thing to make ever. but when I bring them, people always want to know how I made them

I don't even know the names of them, so I just say "sausage thingies"

okay.

1 mini muffin pan

1 lb sausage

1 roll/container biscuits

1 block philadelphia cream cheese.

brown sausage, drain.

add cheese and keep over medium heat until melted. It's gonna look nasty but that's okay.

in the meantime, pop your biscuit container and start breaking them in half. form a well with the 1/2 biscuit in the mini muffin compartments. when the sausage/cream cheese is finished and mixed thoroughly, spoon it in the wells. don't overfill or you'll be sorry when they are done  you might have a bit of sausage/cream cheese left over, but that's okay. just toss it. cook following the biscuit directions.

Lasagna, I just use the no boil Barilla noodles and jared sauce. But I use my own meatballs instead of ground beef, plus I season the ricotta with a little garlic, basil, oregano, and romano. It's been a long time since I made it. I think I am due!

i leave the cooking to whomever else.. i'm all about dessert. i don't get to do it much, but it's a passion.

no recipes, sorry, maybe someday.. all my books and notes are packed away.. but these are the ones people tend to love the most:

- chocolate eclair cake
- banana pudding (i represent the south for sure)
- peanut butter pie
- peanut butter balls
- chocolate peanut butter cheesecake
- maple pecan pie
- pumpkin cheesecake
- pumpkin ice cream pie
- strawberry or cherry (or whatever else, really) trifle
- swiss chocolate cake (the trick here is super light, moist cake with a cream cheese/cool whip type of light fluffy icing)

i love to make layered desserts, cakes, and pies the most, but i never really have reasons to these days. sure, i like eating them, but i enjoy making them for other people and occasions more. :) i have the most fun with the no-bake type of summer desserts - not really because they're "easier" (they are), but they're just always so tasty. i absolutely love anything with pudding or an ice cream pie.

My Mom makes a no bake pumkin pie with that cool whip/cream cheese frosting. I think it's just canned pumpkin mixed with vanilla pudding in a graham cracker pie crust. Then you fold the cream cheese in the cool whip, I think with some added powdered sugar and top it with that. We had it at Thanksgiving and it was so good!

I also love to cook but rarely have the time/energy/occasion.

My signature dish probably my pork-butt chardonnay, published in the cookbook "Going Home"

It involves paprika.
