June 21, Casino Rama
The 59-year-old songbird and sometime Fleetwood Mac member proved why she's still a total pro as she opened the first of two solo shows. Unbelievably, Nicks -- who has a bad knee -- fell on stage toward the end of her one hour 45-minute performance during a long, lively version of her signature solo track, Edge of Seventeen. After being helped to her feet, the singer shook it off, laughing, and finished the tune. But it was the poignant Landslide that put a lump in everyone's throat as she sang in front of a backdrop of family images, most prominently her elderly and fragile father. Nicks, astonishingly, sounds exactly as she did almost 40 years ago. And, God bless her, the still-theatrical singer maintains her love of flowing dresses, velvet coats, top hats, shawls and those signature black suede platform boots, and never missed a moment to interpretive dance or twirl on the spot.
