"Enchanted" Help?

Hi again......

I'm back asking for more help.

"Enchanted: The Works of Stevie Nicks" [Box Set] 1998

Does anyone know where I can find out which musicians played on the new cuts on that album? The previously unreleased stuff and demos.

Someone must have already put that info up somewhere on the internet???

Big thanks-
Nina

I have no idea how to help you but when I saw the word Enchanted I remembered that she said she wrote that song in a limosine in New Jersey. Or maybe she said that was the first time she and the girls sang it.

You're thinking of the full version from the movie. Stevie played guitar on the box set version.

Cool! Thanks a million, Strandinthewind!

I never knew this was performed live....

(Of course, there are a bzillion things I don't know, because I am unconscious...)

You're a treasure, Johnny! Thank you so much!!!!!!!!

If it's not too much to ask...... Maybe you can see if the liner notes include any info on these other songs - or does someone know on which albums they were released before?

I Can't Wait [Extended Rock Mix] (S. Nicks, Nowels, Pressly)
Desert Angel (M. Campbell, S. Nicks)
Long Distance Winner (S. Nicks)
Gold (J. Stewart) - Stevie Nicks, John Stewart
Whenever I Call You "Friend" (Loggins, Manchester) - Stevie Nicks, Kenny Loggins

Thank you!!!!!!!
-Nina

You're welcome, Nina. :)

As far as the other tracks you asked about...
  • "I Can't Wait" [Extended Rock Mix] was released on a US 12" maxi-single
  • "Desert Angel" was released on the CD and cassette editions of 'Timespace: The Best of Stevie Nicks'
  • "Long Distance Winner" can be found on 'Buckingham Nicks'
  • "Gold" is available on John Stewart's 'Bombs Away Dream Babies' and 'Earth Rider: The Essential John Stewart'
  • "Whenever I Call You Friend" can be found on Kenny Loggins' 'Nightwatch,' 'Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow: The Greatest Hits of Kenny Loggins,' and 'The Essential Kenny Loggins.'

If you'd like, I can type out the musician credits for those as well.

If you include the live version, which was arranged by Carlos, then there are three.

They're pretty different. The one on Enchanted is just Stevie on top of a bit gentler and quieter backing track, harmonizing with herself. The one of the movie soundtrack features Lindsey on vocals as well, if I remember correctly they trade off the verses (I've seemed to have lost my copy of the song and it's not on iTunes, sadly) and Lindsey's production, plus Mick on drums. The movie soundtrack version is very cool, in my opinion, but Stevie's version on Enchanted is a fun listen as well.

Quite different: variations in the chord progression, in the tone, in the tempo, in the vocal harmonies, &c. When Stevie started doing the song live in 1996, her various bands put together an arrangement that was closer to the demo than what Lindsey & Mick did. That essential idea of that arrangement has been carried through in Stevie's live shows, from 1996 to the Enchanted tour to today. They all feature the same rhythm guitar pattern, a rollicking sort of Doobie Brothers feel. The rhythm guitar & the drum syncopation take the limelight.

As far as I know, Stevie has never performed the Buckingham/Fleetwood arrangement onstage.

Thanks so much, Johnny! I think that's all the info I need on those songs.

Maybe you can help with something else?

MCA released an album in 1998 titled “1998 Grammy Nominees” with this song on it:

Silver Springs [live] - Fleetwood Mac

I also found this info:

2-25-98 Stevie Appeared at the 40th annual Grammy awards ceremony at Radio City Music Hall, New York City NY. Performed a medley of hits, "Rhiannon," "Go Your Own Way," and "Don't Stop." Stevie was nominated for three Grammys: Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for "The Chain," Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for "Silver Springs," and Best Pop Album for "The Dance."

That's confusing, if it's true. She performed songs live at the Grammys that weren't the ones she was nominated for?

Also...... Which Fleetwood Mac live performance of "Silver Springs" is on that album?

Confused-
Nina

Fleetwood Mac was nominated for those things, not Stevie Nicks, & Fleetwood Mac performed the "medley."
