I was just thinking...

How would you react to a remake of The Wizard of Oz?

SortaSavageLike 11-10-2007 11:11 PM

Indifference.

why the hell would they remake it? it's perfect as it is. totally unnecessary.

LEAVE IT ALONE, MAN.

 That's why I want to know what people think, its such a classic that I can't even imagine the remake.

And speaking of The Wizard of Oz, has anyone seen "Return to Oz"? That movie is absolutely creepy.

There was a remake of The Wizard Of Oz in the late 70's or maybe the early 1980's. It had an all Black cast. I think Diana Ross played Dorothy?

Yeah! That was "The Wiz" and Michael Jackson was in it too. I need to rent that! And I'd have to say that was more of an "urban-adaptation" than a remake.

Michael Jackson was in it - played the scarecrow.
I liked it a lot actually - found it VERY memorable.
But i.m.o. that was meant as a "tribute," more than an actual remake.
You don't mess with "perfection."

Hmm...dont touch WoZ. Its not a favorite of mine, but I wont argue that it isnt a classic.

I would much rather see a live action "Alice in Wonderland"...or that twisted version they made a game of a few years back.

RavenOfRhiannon 11-11-2007 09:29 AM

I would rather call it a reimagining or a prequel, but there is the book and the musical 'Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.' I adore the book and really like the musical. It adds another layer to the story. As for remaking the film: HELL NO. I cringe everytime I hear anyone other than Judy sing 'Over the Rainbow.'

Don't smack me, but I never really got into The Wizard Of Oz. But...they have an interesting miniseries on SciFi Channel in December called Tin Man. It takes the original and puts a really kewl spin on it.

American McGee's Alice!!!! That **** was so dope!

If they remade the Wizard of Oz, I wouldn't go see it.
I didn't like the original and, as a general rule, I hate musicals anyway.
