Gold Dust Woman Ending
Hey, not sure if this has been discussed, but what are the screamy noises at the end of GDW? They give me goosebumps...

Edit: Woops, I just realised that that might be misinterpreted as "This has already been discussed, how dare you post another thread about it?!" That's not how I meant it at all! :wavey: |

Thanks! And no, you seemed very polite!

I think it's Stevie shrieking & howling in her gutteral way, possibly through an amplified flanger or phaser. The engineers used a flanger or a phaser on the clavinet on that track, so maybe they ran Stevie's shrieks through it.
Which review was it (Esquire? Creem? Hit Parader?) that referred to the "Welsh witch howls that end the record"? |
i've never heard the shattering glass. can anyone give me an exact time on when it happens? or is it only on a certain version?
|
Can someone repost the live mp3 discussed in the thread Sahara linked?

does anyone have any gold dust women ( ) with the new ending? baby, baby, baby, baby, baby-you can't save me now..etc?? i have none, and I totally dig it. and while i'm at it, an edge with "I know what it sounds like, it sounds like you". I think i have ONE version of this. |
Gold Dust Woman gave me freakin' nightmares the first few times I actually listened to it. I'd hear that cowbell clunking away with every step I took when I was out walking. Don't believe me? Step...Step. Step...Step. Clunk...Clunk. Clunk...Clunk.

The ending of Edge on Crystal Visions gives me the chills. "Somewhere deep in the middle of the night..." And don't get me started on the dancing-with-Waddy. Sexy as all hell. |
