Fireflies (Single Version)

I have this on a vinyl single but have no way to transfer it to CD to transfer to my iTunes. Does anyone have a high quality mp3 they could send me? I would greatly appreciate it.

What's the difference in the single version and the Live album version?

I don't have the vinyl single. If there's a difference, I'll have to bump it up on my list. Getting all the singles/sleeves is going to take forever. :distress:

Is this the same version which appears on FLEETWOOD MAC LIVE (2 Cd set) circa 1980? (It has the blurry B/W picture on the front of the band taking a bow.)

The Farmer's Daughter is on this set too. It's a cool set to have, if you don't have it.

Lindsey breaks a guitar string on Don't Stop (I think) and you hear the guitar part go wacky and he says "I broke a string." It is towards the end of the song.

The single is just the live album version remixed (some of the background vocals are either omitted or put further back in the mix) and the song fades out instead of having the cold ending. So, the song is actually a few seconds shorter.

Ah, okay.

I can bump it back on the list then. I still want it because I eventually want all the singles and sleeves, but I'm not in a hurry to hear this now. Thanks, Chili.

Carrie721 has a turntable (record player) with a USB connection. She said you plug it into the computer and can copy your vinyl songs. You might ask her how and if it works very well.

I called the local mom and pop record/music store and they sell them for about $100.

So...it's a possibility for the Christmas list????

I'll post it.

They sound pretty similar.
I've heard some Fireflies where Chris is playing piano, but on the others she's playing organ. This leads me to believe that they played it more than a few times. What, ho?

I'm almost sure they only played it once live, but there are a few studio demo's floating around. I have another with Lindsey on the opening vocals, and a Piano Demo of Stevie's.

Thanks Liam!

I was not aware that they had used a demo for the single version. Interesting. Anyway it's gonna be great having this version on my iPod.

I'm not sure this is the single. I do know this was released on vinyl, I think along with the LIVE version. Glad you like it though. :D

I bought the 45 single when it was first released. It's not a demo -- it's a remixed edit version of the Live album version. It is a fairly common practice to prep a song for single release by remixing it. I don't believe there is any real demo (of the song) = usually a rough "demonstration" of the song presented to the band..to see if it's worth attempting. This deliniation, of course, gets very muddy because Stevie, with her own team of musicians, sometimes develops her demos to the point where they sound like outtakes. Some make it to her solo albums...some become Fleetwod Mac songs.
But I don't think was the case with Fireflies.

This song, like Farmer's Daughter and One More Night, I believe, was created during the Tusk tour, specifically for the impending live album. What could be mistaken for "demos" (a term often missused) , are the numerous outtakes that exist as the band tried to get the song togther.
