Wikipedia is weird
Just out of boredom last week, I added Fleetwood Mac to the list of "bands who use cowbell in their recordings."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cowbell The next day a message popped up next to my new entry, saying that a citation is needed. What the hell? The other bands on the list don't have specific citations, so why should Fleetwood Mac? Christ, it's not like no one's ever heard Homeward Bound, Gold Dust Woman, or Oh Well! |
... statements in wiki should be cited. otherwise, it's useless as a valid source.

The guy who put citation tags on Fleetwood Mac for the use of the cowbell.. I've had arguments with him before  He decided that it wasn't clear who was singing "Don't Stop" so he told me he wanted a citation to prove it. I uhh.. disagreed
I took the tags off anyway, you only really need to provide a source to prove things that are contentious, or for quotes and things, otherwise the articles get swamped with footnotes and stuff. Some people want sources to prove every sentence, and it gets silly. |
