Former Fleetwood Mac star Stevie Nicks has shocked the entertainment world by confessing she has not taken drugs of any sort for 17 minutes.

Nicks once had a healthy three gramme a day cocaine habit until her nose fell off and she moved on to various prescription tranquillisers in the 1990s.

The stress of a failed solo career overcame her in 2001 and at one point she was off drugs for eight minutes on December 29.

Her latest relapse is a massive body blow for Nicks, who was hoping to re-ignite her career by teaming up with Joe Dolche, who has an international hit with 'Shaddap Your Face' in 1979.

'I'm waiting for Dealer McDope to come round with something because I'm hurting real bad man,' Nicks said from her bed at the Cedars-Sinai hospital.

Former bandmate Mick Fleetwood was expected to rush to her bedside last night when he finds the glass he left his false teeth in.

Midge Ure, the ex-Ultravox singer said: Joe Dolche kept my song 'Vienna' off the top of the charts. I know this might be slightly irrelevant in the contex of this story, but I do like to mention it whenever I get the chance.'
