What the hell is the matter with that guy?

'08 is the year he'll probably throw on some overalls & start painting people's homes, or giving T'ai chi classes down at the Y.

Whats the problem with him giving a modivational lecture? he surely has gone through many ups and downs - Divorce, Bankrupcy, Drugs.

I guess it all depends on how much he gets paid.

From managing his businesses to managing to balance his rock n' roll lifestyle and family life...

What about managing his check book?

One of these days -- before long, I fear -- I'll walk into the butcher shop & there Mick will be, wearing a T-shirt advertising his latest pickup band on its "Island Tour" of Maui & Molokai, packaging ground round & weighing chops for the shoppers.

Many of us saw the end coming as far back as the drumming loop products, but certainly the tipoff to all but the most obtuse should have been last year's visits to umpteen Costcos to "sign autographs" & market his wine.

In the old days, Fleetwood Mac of course marketed itself -- all rock bands do -- but it wasn't brazen. But nowadays, Mick & the band are nothing but a name brand in the crassest marketing terms. Mick is a legendary rock musician who treats himself & his musical achievements no differently from the way Sears treats Whirlpool.

I can't decide on this. David has some good points, but on the other hand, can't people grow and change and be busy and entrepeneurial? (sp). Do they have to be trapped in their band forever? And, why shouldn't he speak, as a founding member of one of the most successful and favoritist bands ever.
I'm thinking, on the other side of the argument, that perhaps these are things he is interested in doing, would want to do anyway, and that his status as a member of FM just enables him to do these things. We know he likes to talk in front of people, and he seems to have a genuine interest in wine as well. It doesn't seem entirely fair to sort of, limit him in our judgments. People seem to be talking as if these things he does are beneath him, or the band, or something. But he is a person besides being in FM. Shouldn't he be allowed to explore his interests, and develop opportunities he is interested in? And unlike Linds or Stevie, he can't necessarily have music totally consume him, as he is "just" a drummer.
I dunno, I understand the "selling out" feeling, but if he wants to do this stuff, who are we to keep him down? And I think it is kinda cool that he is whoring himself out to do regular person things. :laugh: I mean, he has other interests, and is trying to promote them - so big deal. Don't we always wish that certain other band members didn't limit themselves to being trapped in the "legend that is Fleetwood Mac" ?
Just saying. If I was trying to do some regular things to support my interests, I wouldn't want people to say if it was proper or not, because only I know what is best for me. :shrug:

Who cares what Mick does? Besides if he was convincing the band to change up the setlist, which would be very important, I couldn't care less how he spends the rest of his days. You know, drum good, change the setlist, and f*ck all else. He's just a person, who like everyone else wants to do what they want to do.
