Well, according to the tv channel VH-1 Classic, the 12th of August was their first show.

Right now, I'm listening to FM's first concert and I'm looking at the poster of the "7th National Jazz-Pop-Ballads & Blues Festival" at the Royal Windsor Racecourse.
On Friday, August 11, The Small Faces, The Move & The Marmelade played (amongst many others).
On Saturday, August 12, there were Pink Floyd, Paul Jones, Amen Corner and many others.
On Sunday, August 13 there were (a.o.) Donovan, Al Stewart, The Cream, Jeff Beck, Chicken Shack, John Mayall and...
"The Debut of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac".

Sorry, but VH-1 is wrong on this......it was definitely the 13th, not the 12th. That's according to Mick Fleetwood, Bob Brunning, and every other reference to their first performance that I've ever run across.

I betcha somebody working for them just saw the date of the beginning of the festival, and didn't really take the time to look beyond that - they just assumed that was it.

oops! :p
